dynamic island is a camouflage far away from your touch range and staying in the middle of every content you watch. now bar is a widget under your thumb that you can disable if don't like. besides, it disappears when you watch content, too. sounds a way better way to do.

No, it doesn't look fine, if it was at the top of the display it would be useful, but oh wait that feature is already taken by Apple, which is the only reason Samsung will put it at the bottom. Forever second place they will be.

iphone's dynamic island itself is inspired by Samsung's pill shaped notification bar that was introduced few years earlier.
the only difference is the Samsung ones is located below the camera.notch, while the iphone ones cut through the camera notch.
