Here are some Realme 14 Pro+ camera samples

We took the Realme 14 Pro+ for a spin in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Some seriously wild comments on the image quality here. I have to say it looks very impressive with excellent dynamic range, detail and noise suppression. Sharpening may be a little strong on high contrast areas, but then plenty of other brands do that as well. These photos feel like if you put them in some blind camera test they would end in the top three or so.

Using 9 Pro+ here (which is great with gcam) and was looking into buying 13 Pro+ for the zoom camera, but now this is clearly my next phone and it looks like it won't need any camera ports.

Photos with street lights will showcase how well this cam handles sharp point sources of flight

Stabilization in video mode is not good enough. It is problematic on this series. It is its only weak point

Every single photo from the main camera looks like an oil painting. I wonder why they are showcasing a camera quality downgrade.

Woohoo, 21 Dec 2024Is it just me or are do these pictures look like dog $hit, ... moreMost smartphones now has heavily overprocessed photos, including Pixels and iPhones and Samsungs.

I think only Sony tries to stick to the natural photos mantra.

Recently switched from S23 Ultra (which to be fair offers the user to turn down and even off the processing strength) to Xperia 1VI and it's honestly a night-and-day difference. In most cases Xperia 1VI photos will look like the real scene in front of you. It does HDR but usually in a balanced way and it gives excellent control over exposure / white balance / shutter speed / focus. All of these settings are available in the normal Auto mode with all the HDR / multistacking processing applied. Bokeh (portrait mode) is shot without HDR but in most cases still come out looking great with a little tweaking of exposure.

I think Oppo has slightly less processed looking photos too, at least in their flagship phones. Colours in Xiaomi flagships looks really unnatural and strange, not really better in Leica natural mode (just weirder looking).

It's been like half a decade already and y'all still cant move on. Good TWS are affordable nowadays, last longer, more convenient to use. That little hole makes the phone ugly anyway

Shamrock Sean, 21 Dec 2024Air pollution creates colour fringing 🤣 what a dumb comment From Meta AI

Yes, air pollution can contribute to color fringing, particularly in situations where there are high levels of particulate matter (PM) and other aerosols in the atmosphere.

How air pollution leads to color fringing:

Scattering of light: Aerosols and PM in the atmosphere scatter shorter (blue) wavelengths of light more than longer (red) wavelengths, leading to chromatic aberration and color fringing.
Atmospheric distortion: Air pollution can cause thermal gradients and turbulence, which can distort light waves and contribute to color fringing.

Types of color fringing caused by air pollution:

Chromatic aberration: Air pollution can exacerbate chromatic aberration, causing color fringing, particularly in high-contrast scenes.
Lateral chromatic aberration: This type of aberration can cause color fringing towards the edges of the image.

Minimizing color fringing caused by air pollution:

Use a high-quality lens: Lenses with low dispersion glass and well-designed optics can help minimize chromatic aberration.
Apply lens corrections: Many camera systems and image processing software offer lens corrections that can help reduce chromatic aberration.
Shoot in RAW: Capturing images in RAW format provides more flexibility when correcting for chromatic aberration and color fringing during post-processing.
Avoid shooting during peak pollution hours: If possible, schedule your photography sessions during times when air pollution levels are lower.

May be you should learn something before calling others dumb? 🙄

The problem is acute on lenses with very wide apertures like f/1.8 as in smartphones.
