when do samsung plan to sell the onboard storage?
it could be pricy as much as SSD price, but it's much appreciated.

I'm talking about manufacturing defects. If your'e the unlucky less than 1% that gets a phone with manufacturing defect, most phone companies won't honor the warranty across borders.

Unfortunately, there's no proper options to fully circumvent the downsides. I've always defaulted the sd card for camera for the past 20 years, when phones were still using minisd (yes, my photos from Nokia smartphones in early 2000s are exact copies till now cause of SD card allowing robocopy functions). I don't want to have to plug in a USB drive everytime I take a photo. If i transfer a photo, the time taken may not change, but the file modified time may change. I only swithcout the SD card when there are signs of wear and tear, or when I want to do exact copy backups (which is like taking it out once every six moths), so having a usb otg sticking to a phone for 6 months is not feasible. Hopefully mtpdrive .com can circumvent the downside of not having a mcirosd.

Anonymous, 28 Dec 2024People have been complaining for years, yet companies keep ... moreOne day a significant majority might just visit this forum and read comments.
One day a company might actually listen to us.

As for Sony, its not just about import it once and they lived happily ever after. We need service, we need battery upgrades. But, seeing how Sony's market is here, even the aftermarket doesn't stock Sony phone batteries.
      If I'm stuck, I'm stuck.

And why are we in this mindless void? No, I won't buy cloud storage (I do have bluetooth earphones though, I just use them rarely). Companies need to understand this.
At worst, I'll get an old flagship or a midranger.

You know, sometimes I suspect some invisible force is controlling the smartphone market, maybe qualcomm, maybe USA's government and Sony just opposed it using their power, but it was anyways ignored, being a low volume, high price product.
All their recent decisions are copied by all companies like hell, and many of them are bad for consumer. Yet, not one company fights back.

ReaLogic, 29 Dec 2024Importing a phone with no support in the country is kind of... moreIt is not risky if you do a proper research, like which bands your country supports and if the phone you're importing has them (even 4G bands, because there might be times where you have to fallback onto those depending on your region/location). It's just that people are lazy and don't want to bother with research for a product the will be daily using, which is a completely bonkers mentality to have if you ask me.

I also want microSD, jack AND removable batteries to become mainstream again, but for now, if you have to get a modern flapship phone, there are STILL alternatives you can use to circumvent those downsides, yet people refuse them and get uppity when you even mention them, simply because they want to be "right" in an internet argument.

Best of luck saying that in places with almost no Internet coverage in the first place. There's a good reason why I still deeply value microSD card slot on smartphones.

I do agree that microSD and headphone jacks have disappeared from almost all flagship phones and people will have to learn to live without them.
Maybe one day they'll make a comeback but doesn't seem to be anytime soon.

Hi, 25 Dec 2024That's the job of the internal storage.. why there is... moreBecause it's much easier to get files out of microSD than from internal storage if your phone ever gets wrecked. microSD also keeps timestamp better when moving from one phone to another
More People have been commenting on how they use microSD differently than you do.
You're in the minority in how you used microSD.
As shown by comments you only know how to use the microSD the same way as a pen drive, while others are much smarter.

Moki, 24 Dec 2024I have been using Micro SD card on Smartphones since 2012. ... more"i owned and still own flagships with option on SD card. "
^ Name me which Flagship - a REAL flagship smartphone made in 2024 that ships with user replaceable SD Card slot?!
LMAO I'll wait .... remember you typed "SD" card not MicroSD card - man you don't even know the Tech you're talking about but fail at using shorthand that makes a HUGE difference [like Mb thinking it means MB when it comes to storage. THIS is why the next side fail you make makes sense]

"The storage is indeed a tiny bit slower, but you save massive amount of money on the long run."
LMAO - 'a tiny bit slower' ... are you talking Mb vs MB here?! Try GB vs Gb then come again with that weak-ass line about 'tiny bit slower'
Applications are in hundreds of MegaBytes [MB] while the data many hold are either equal to or close to double - making the total size for 1 user of 1 smartphone application close to 1GB in size on average!

Keep playing with your PS1 PS2 game emulators, I'm working making money coding and uploading/downloading a lot of data for architecture and nanoarchitecture designs.

"...but you save massive amount of money on the long run.Things you benefit on:
                    - No reliance on Cloud Storage
                    - No reliance on moving files to PC each time
                    - Not over spending"
^ here is another parrot talking verbatim spitting internet kiddie.
                    1. Who said local storage or the speed of local storage is reliant on Cloud Storage?
1B. Many cloud storage apps and services allow for caching data or storage a copy locally on device storage - so come again with that weak 1st point! Its irrelevant to the conversation - you're either super CHEAP or STUCK in your way's but don't bring it to this argument its a fail anyway you look at it.

                    2. If you're moving files TO storage from ANY source: browser, FTP, PC - you're copying.
You're bringing THIS up BECAUSE of SPEED! It took you a LONG time to collate then copy/clone to the MicroSD so it annoys you to ever having to do it again - from yet another device that has local storage which you problably sourced from. GAWD forbid you transfered from external 1GB ethernet storage over network to your computer's Windows Explorer to the MicroSD Card writer to the MicroSD card or through USB to your phone then to its MicroSD card's built-in Reader/Writer . Although the latter is faster (linux based android) over 1Gb ethernet using Windows Explorer (you probably did NOT even use Robocopy or PS at all) ... yeah I'd be ANNOYED to ever having to do that more than 1x.

SPEED allows you a fraction of the time SHOULD you ever need to do it again!
MicroSD card is VERY small chance of loosing it in grass or drain grate or crushed stepping on it while walking when removing is higher than a mag-safe USB3.2 drive that's flat!

CLOUD storage ... allows you managed robustness of your data. You can access it anywhere and in any situation should you device be stolen should you have a fire at home or you cannot USE your home PC for whatever.

The REAL deal that ALL you forget to realize is the SECURITY FLAW in MicroSD slots on Android - you should read about it!!!!

Dimensity 9400 & SD 8 Elite = our smartphones ARE computers!
                    Android 12 - current = Samsung Dex!
Android 15 everyone else Android Desktop Mode
Add BT KB+Mouse+Screen and BOOM I'm rocking.

See what happens when you parrot over and over again? You get STUCK behind modern technology and powerful use cases!
You probably upload your resume from MicroSD card for every job application.
8yrs ago I applied with cloud encrypted copy of mine.
Last year I did that with the help of an AI browser extension that applied FOR ME, kept track and made follow-ups to 40 jobs that it would take you on your phone to copy and upload.

"Smartphones are meant to be slower. Even so, the speed of the SD card is only few seconds slower than Internal storage"
                    ROFLMAO !
Who the HELL taught you THAT?!

Ok .. if you're over 40yrs old then i CAN understand that first sentence if you used Nokia's S60 Symbian/ SE's UIQ or Motorola's UIQ or the PocketPC 5.0/ 6.0/6.1 mobile OS'. But man if you or ANYONE truly believes that in their minds ... EEEEK

The SLOWNESS is your MIND NOT the phone!

Smartphones were NEVER designed to be SLOW! Show me 1 damn article that EVER stated that!

"Fun fact. Literally the amount of kids (20-40 year old people with brain of such) who complained about storage speed are an extreme minority. The only reason why companies removed Storage is:
                    - Privacy Breach
                    - Money"

You have the BRAIN of an AMOEBA!
PRIVACY BREACH is ALONE the FULL STOP reason!
MONEY again IS ALONE another FULL STOP reason!
Global Inflation and spending MORE of your hard earned dollar to
PAY more for something you're not FORCED to,
PAY more for using something you're expected to be LIMITED in what its capable of being used for (you ASSUME nobody should be putting secure data on storage of any computing device)? THAT's assinine and lacking of ANY mature person's common-sense!

you right there have shown you're talking with the mind of a child.
Here is a big bowl for you to have your soup dinner with BUT I'll give you a wide spaced, narrow fingered fork to eat it with while you barely even fill the bowl with less that a pop-bottle cap full and have to keep limiting what you can ingest or use the bowl for.

Yeah ... REAL genius thinker there.

                    There REAL issue is:
Storage Size, Storage Speed, Access to fully use the storage whatever you want securely!

Somehow you either failed to learn how to count my original points, failed to comprehend them, or just plane make up whatever you want to continue to hold onto praying to keep something that is soon going to be phased out.

                    Enjoy lol.
