DarlingYeet, 28 Dec 2024Why would anybody buy their phones when their markup price ... moreWell, nobody actually buys their flagship phones. Only tech youtubers and their ambassadors use these phones (and they all went back to their iPhones afterwards) for marketing purposes. Oppo's main sellers are their low end phones.

Nobody's buying this.
But Oppo is making serious money from their low end phones. It's amazing how many people are buying their low end phones.

DarlingYeet, 28 Dec 2024Why would anybody buy their phones when their markup price ... moreYou need to take some things into account: in Europe every country will add VAT which is on average 22% on top of the retail price.
And then you also have to take into account the legal warranty that OEMs are forced by law to provide, and whose costs they obviously pass on to the consumers. In Europe the MINIMUM legal warranty on products is 2 years, with some countries legislation offering 3 years of warranty (like Portugal, Sweden or Spain) and others even more than that (like Iceland and Norway).
And yes, no matter how much OEMs hate it, you have to comply, APPLE.

DarlingYeet, 28 Dec 2024Why would anybody buy their phones when their markup price ... morewarranty + deals + not having to deal with any issues that might arise from a phone being optimized ONLY for China + the fact that it's far easier and more reliable. Not everything is JUST about money or the performance. A good experience matters as well, not saying the Chinese version is gonna give a bad experience but that it's likelier that it's gonna be worse than the Global version.
