          DarlingYext, 22 Jan 2025Yeah big deal, when the S20 5G had a 1440p display 5 years ... moreThey had to do something about the bad batterylife of S20, so they amongst other things, gave the S21 fhd display. S21 batterylife was way, WAY better then S20. At some point qhd oled display tech came a long way efficiency wise and so S24+ got qhd again. These are not evil decisions, but moves to get an acceptable balanced phone.

            mawlki, 21 Jan 2025S23+ ---> S24+ *Higher resolution screen and bigger ... moreYeah big deal, when the S20 5G had a 1440p display 5 years ago, and 12GB RAM available nearly everywhere, yet their successors are stuck at 1080p and either no 12GB option, or the option exists but only in a handful of countries. Oh and btw the S20+ (5G) also had the same resolution as the S24+, thus higher than the S23+, so that's not an upgrade, they just gave back something they shouldn't have taken away. The S20 Ultra (5G) had a bigger display than the newer S Ultra devices, 16GB of RAM, that they took away with S22 Ultra, and the S24 Ultra didn't have it either, and had the biggest periscope telephoto camera on any Samsung phone. Plus the entire S20 series had micro SD card support which is just nice to have, because why not, it can clearly fit into such large phone.

            Imo they peaked with the S20 series, and the point when I started to dislike them was when launched the awful plastic $1000 Note 20, which was a scam, and then the disapponting S21 which was a glorified midrange phone. The S20 FE still holds the most value in the FE line.

                You are right, but there is only 1 other brand that upgrades next to nothing in their phones, and that's Apple, a brand that doesn't have any competition because if you want iOS you HAVE TO buy a phone from them.

                If you want Android, you have plenty of options.

                "..7 years support and recent processor so it can last a long time?"

                These are mobile devices, powered by a battery, no they can not last 7 years, 2-3 at most, maybe 4 if one is lucky. Most people upgrade their phones every 1-2 years, yes even Samsung users, and especially Samsung S series users. Of course ones they switch they are likely to sell their phones, so it's great that the next owner will get 5-6 years of OS updates, but it's pointless because people who can afford a 1-2 year old flagship are still very likely to switch in 1-2 years, and after that the battery is not gonna last.

                Oh, and if you want the most recent SoC all the time, you have to get a new phone every year, so by that logic 1 year of OS updates should be enough. 🤭

                "Cmon. Again, why are you here?"

                Because I have every right to be here, and because I want the best for customers, and these phones aren't it.

                                  No-way, 11 Jan 2025$50 credit on a phone over $1200, LOL, LOL, LOL.The usual in The Netherlands/euro is as such: (for ultra)

                                  * 50 euro discount when write-up for pre-order
                                  * 12% or so discount and or 5%, i believe this year its 5% when buying in Samsung shop
                                  but the extra low price @ Samsung (10 %) or so off can occur too
                                  * a day or so before Samsung event: most get a 200 disount early bird voucher on ultra
                                  * 150-200 extra discount money when trade in, just trade in an old botched s7 or so, np
                                  * 50% off some accesoires
                                  * a present: buds pro, watch 7 etc, sell it for 100-150 or so

                                  Ok here we have it 50+ (5%) 70 + 200 + 150 + 100 = 570 EURO on 1449 S25 ultra
                                  NOT taking accesoires discounts or memory upgrades into account and i kept it on the low side so it can be + 100 higher. Obviously not counting money back for the old phone itself at trade in.

                                  It's the best deal you'll ever get, even better then any black friday or year-old-phone deals, or ANY provider deals later in the year.

                                  Providers have their own pre-order deals that sometimes are even better.

Nowhere really, apart from back in the day when my S8 had to be repaired twice due to faulty Wi-Fi chip, during 1 year of usage, and the battery in that phone become way worse going from new to 1 year old.

                                    However I mostly dislike them because they are fooling their customers and are just releasing the same things over and over again, I see nothing to like or desire in their products.
