You buy a premium device with a premium price tag, it gets 4 years of software support. After 4 years someone buys it and realize there's no software support anymore.

There are so many devices in circulation, for example - oneplus pad 1 costs the same as oneplus pad 2 here (hungary) so there's that

fren, 09 Jan 2025not worth buying xiaomi tablet coz of the software support ... moreDude, your logic doesn't make sense. You would rather pay double for a device and use it for four years than to buy a new device every two years?
Honestly, what's up with all these non-techies talking about updates. It's not like any of the updates actually changed much from one to the next - my experience using android over the last ~15 years.

HyperOS is really that bad? I never upgraded my Xiaomi 12 Pro to the latest Android not to have HyperOS. Is it really impossible to avoid ads (ads! on my own device that I have paid!) or it is only a bit tricky to find the right permissions?

I've been using various Xiaomi / Redmi / Poco devices ever since they started back in China and were sold by invite-only or whatever their flash sales scheme was called. I've been recommending Xiaomi to all my friends. I stopped doing that right after HyperOS was released.
With MIUI I could at least configure it in such a way that it would show me no ads and work just like I would want it to. With HyperOS it's just impossible. Xiaomi have no right calling their junk "development" or "innovation."

Owner of 5 12.4 pro and 6s pro 12.4. The new software is significantly worse compared to miui 14 which I never upgraded from on the old 5. The OS has too many rules and if you don't follow the rules it just doesn't work as intended.

For Arists, the new pens are unimpressive, 0g activation force combined with a detection system that doesn't require you to touch the screen means your hands will be undetected as long as the pens is somewhat close to the screen. And no, that does not result in good palm rejection;that also hasn't been fixed..

Performance and screen & sound quality are very much there but I'd rather have a custom OS installed at this point, which I can't do because it would disable the pencil.

I'm still not sure about the new 3:2 screen. It's great for one-handed use and note-taking in Portrait mode, but not for video binging.

Would love a plus edition. More storage and 13 inch display. Same CPU.

[deleted post]12 Hours of SOT, writing notes 75% brightness, multi-tasking with ez. Smooth af, updates install in less than 2 minutes, even 500+ MB one I had. Best value, fastest storage(Faster than Apple) Focus Pen works better than Pencil Pro from Apple. Everything I throw at it, everything just works. And the best part. A real GaN charger in the box. 60 euros right there.

You're just trolling, guy. My friend has a a regular iPad and it's a lot slower than mine, + that thing becomes toasty and it ain't even charging.

not worth buying xiaomi tablet coz of the software support example is the pad 6 which is not getting android 15 even though it was only release in 2023 instead it will only get hyper os based on android 14. samsung & ipad may cost more but there is a reason - long software support. imagine those buying the pad 6 yet not getting updated to android 15 just getting one update. although some may argue the tablet is cheap but do take note - it's not oled screen lack of 5G support though some countries get the 5G version but not all.

Xiaomi's tablets should include a bundle option (tablet + stylus) for customer. In Cambodia, it is impossible to get the latest version of stylus, so Samsung still remains the top priority because of stylus included as bundle.

In terms of value for money, Xiaomi and OnePlus is by far the better choice, but cannot accept old stylus version.

prasad-gsma, 09 Jan 2025It was a typo. It should have said UFS 4.0 in the article. Do give warning in your review how Hyper OS 1.0 ruined performance of Xiaomi Pad 6 and Xiaomi didn't fix it for the whole year. Now we might get gimped HyperOS 2.0 with Android 14 only. So buyers beware with the horrible software support.
