Samsung Galaxy S25+: what to expect

14 January 2025
Did Samsung forget it was supposed to upgrade the S25+? Because it feels like it, especially with the Galaxy S25 Slim looming on the horizon.

Really happy with my S24+ SD8G3.
Making all S25+ use SD and be so thin and light with such good battery is amazing!

Xiaomi Redmi ,oppo and realme are rapidly coming up with thousands of super phones everyday, time for Samsung and iPhone to learn lessons

Alex, 12 hours agoOh wow, they are late ONE year with the updates and everyon... more"My s21+ got android 14 in December 2023. "

That's an old flagship, the problem is that their current ones haven't received the latest Android 15, which is already on most chinese flagships (older ones too), and even on some entry level phones, and for a company that prides itself on updates, this isn't acceptable.

Shamrock Sean, 12 hours agoWhy can't Samsung use silicone carbon batteries, highe... moreWell I waited years for a well rounded and well priced compact phone from these brands but there is none, they are all big phablets and their old flagship prices are never consistent, not everyone buys the latest and greatest flagships.
For example - Oneplus doesn't have compact flagship comparable to iphone 15, Pixel 8 or S24 which are all cheaper than OPs last flagship Oneplus 12 and even the S24+ is selling for less than a OP 12 in some markets.
If you see Samsung & Apple, their older flagship prices are consistent and fall very predictably after the launch of newer flagships and there are also factors like brand name and after sales services for the non techy people.
All these factors affect buying decisions.

If you're going to try to disprove the post, then you should've looked up all of the Chinese flagships in the past 4 years to show how many still received Android updates after 2 years.

Shamrock Sean, 12 hours agoWhy can't Samsung use silicone carbon batteries, highe... moreTheir brand name still has hypnotic effect on the masses. This is the Apple equivalent in the android world, remember?

It appears Samsung wants to put most of their focus on the Slim. I believe they find the S21 already peaked so they're making marginal practical changes and focusing more on the software instead.

Updates will also be available in the next 2 years. What got you interested in Recycled phones 4 years ago? https://m.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=13322&idPhone2=10596

A length article just to say "more of the same" and confirm that the competition has, indeed, moved forward and is leaving Samsung behind in several aspects and specs.

Anonymous, 13 hours agoMost chinese phone user dont update their phone because the... moreYou're talking nonsense. I'm UK based and my last 3 phones have been Huawei P20 pro, oppo find x2 pro, and Honor Magic 5 Pro. All 3 phones received at least 2 major OS updates and monthly security updates. This ongoing story of Chinese phones having no software support, is just that, a story. At least here in the UK. As to 7 year's of OS updates... Why? Most people change their phones on a 1, 2 or 3 year cycle. Personally I change phone every 2 or 3 years, so offering 7 years os updates is just a gimmick as noone keeps using the same phone for 7 years.

Why can't Samsung use silicone carbon batteries, higher capacity in same size or slimmer chassis. Same old cameras and sensor sizes no innovation no new tech nothing just AI crap. As always Honor, Oppo, Xiaomi, Vivo etc are are racing ahead yet the market is dominated by Samsung and Apple and followed by blind sheep.

Those camera rings completely ruin the back of the phones. What on earth was Samsung thinking?
