Samsung Galaxy S25 price hike seemingly confirmed by a new report

Aszi, 15 Jan 2025Whenever a phone comes out, the price is always much higher... moreSamsung have not been including chargers, and accessories for years now. They saved tons on that.
Then, technology is such that as time progresses, new technology becomes more affordable due to economies of scale. Just like how a 64GB SD card today costs the same as a 32GB card from a couple years ago. And class 10 speed is the standard whereas before it was a premium.
Samsung is just milking the consumers because they can, but it's good because the smarter consumers will move to other brands. Just like how the 1st customers moved over to Samsung when it was still a growing brand.

Samsung designs are so boring and the base S model has similar specs from the S22 with 25W charging in 2025! I'm a Samsung fan but it's nuts what they're offering nowadays compared to before. To top it all no charger, Accessories - a barebone unboxing.
Just bought a Tab 9+ and it was the most expensive amongst the mid tier tab Brands.
The unboxing was sad. I'm using an older flagship which I love because of the size, and also a Samsung Watch as well but in a year I'll probably jump brands with all the items.
Eyeing the One Plus 13 when it becomes available in my country... 80W Fast Charger included in the box with 50W wireless capable, and a phone cover with a screen protector already applied. Oh, I love curved screens.
Looks like Samsung is for (m)ass market nowadays.

To everyone screaming about price hikes and blaming Samsung for it, do some research first to understand the cause behind it.
This year's flagships have 2 major factors that have caused the price hike.
1) Samsung is not using Exynos (its in-house SoC) in the S25 lineup due to yield issues. What this means is that Samsung has been unable to efficiently produce its SoC that was supposed to be used in the S25 lineup (in some regions). Since all the S25 phones will now use Qualcomm SoCs (third party) the prices were bound to be increased as the snapdragon 8 elite is expensive than its predecessors. Although Samsung has solved the yield issues with its SoC, they will not be using it the S series phones this year.
2) The ram to be used in the initial stocks of the S25 phones will be supplied from Micron (again, a third party). The Micron RAM will be based on 12 nm process which will be more efficient compared to Samsung's own RAM chips, which were based on a 13nm process and were producing a little too much heat for Samsung's liking that they were forced to rely on a third party chip maker for the RAM as well. Note that Samsung has claimed that they have solved the heating problem in their own chips and the later batches of S25 lineup will use their in-house RAM chips.
If you are running a business, how do you think production hurdles and faulty chips are going to affect you? You guessed it, price hikes.
Other shenanigans like the exchange rate are also a contributing factor.
SO I GUESS, WHAT SAMSUNG IS ACTUALLY TO BE BLAMED FOR IS, PROVIDING THE S25 LINEUP ON-SCHEDULE (MID JANUARY SIMILAR TO THEIR PREVIOUS LAUNCHES OF THE S SERIES PHONES). AND STILL IT HAS NOT YET BEEN WRITTEN IN STONE THAT THE PRICE HIKES WILL BE UNIVERSAL.
HAVE SOME PATIENCE.

Blame USA based Qualcomm for over charging their clients with their modem chip and SoC with every year! There must be a replacement for Qualcomm in Android World. People are tired of price hikes!

Boy, 14 Jan 2025"Hey, we have ONEUI! So it does make sense for the pri... moreAn UX of Android means a Skin, its value is less or zero. Now consider having a blockchain of it then we are talking as you either have exclusive rights or you really are one of the owners. So what has value, May be Marvel Character, I can see many use case for any Scarlet Witch, pun intended off course. But the game has only 32 character, thats the maximum possible with the best x86 and so applies to the best of ARM as well. each month they are adding about 5 characters meaning next year their would be double the least. 64 characters, a game like vice city will have upto 2000 possible characters maximum, War Thunder has as many vehicles, Asphalt 9 got 400 only but many more combinations. So all in all the max characters is about an average 50, their are many games who show similar number of them, most of em never increase the number as they dont have players you want popular Configurations to be actually be able to call yours blockchain. And their are these folks, who keep lying, it also increase value of software's but not by much, So your characters needs to be playable, or its not valuable. So first pick the franchise then the tools, may it be hardware or software.

More OEMs copy Samsung than the other way around. When Samsung went for OLED, bigger displays, and stylus, it's because they followed/copied Samsung. When Chinese OEMs, Motorola. and Google decided to release a foldable, it's because they followed/copied Samsung.
Without Samsung, Android would've lost to iOS over 15 years ago. Without Galaxy, Android would've never got traction like it did. Other OEMs like LG or HTC are not big enough to keep Android at the front. They don't have the finances and infrastructure to pull it off. Samsung does it all.
Go ahead and hate on Scamsung. They're better than that rotten fruit company in Cupertino and all these Chinese copycats. And Samsung nevers gets political like woke Apple, Google, and Sony all do. Remember the BLM stuff on the PS5? Sony got caught for being woke thanks to owning Hollywood studios.
Loving this S23! Two years old and still flies. Kept it on the default One UI launcher as it's more buttery smooth than on Nova 7. Will be perfect next to my Z Flip 3 and S9. Now I just need a $500 refurb Pixel Fold from Amazon and I should be good to go for the next 5 years again.
Half of my dozen phones are retired. Used some of them beyond 3 years. Looking like I will be sticking to Samsung and Google mostly these next 5 years. Not an Apple fan except for macOS.

ithehappy, 14 Jan 2025Most hilarious. Samsung thinks they can compete with apple ... moreDid you read the article? This was expected because Qualcomm charges $190 to OEMs to use their Snapdragon 8 Elite. If you want Samsung to keep using Snapdragon flagship SoCs, price will go up because Qualcomm keeps charging OEMs more..
Gimme me a break with this Samsung vs. iPhone debate that these insecure fanboys keeps harping about in their immature little brains. Apple has made good iPhone in the last 10 years. That's the iPhone X. I owned it and 12 mini. While Samsung has made what again? Several legendary Notes and S class. Z Flips and Folds. Their portfolio us far deeper than Apple and Xiaomi..
I'm getting a free S9 from AirTalk because I have a lifeline thanks to my EBT and Medicaid. I just bought a second hand S23 the other day for $150 and it's the fastest phone I've ever used. That Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 still flies after 2 years. It seems Samsung phones are dependent on a Snapdragon and TSMC for it to be great. Not their own Exynos/Tensor and their own foundries...
I used to HATE Samsung. But now they're becoming my favorite because I hate how Google uses Exynos and how Apple lacks the range and versatility that Samsung brings. I own 11 phones and 3 of them are Samsungs. I think I will stick to Samsung and Sony moving forward.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 (personal phone, still good after 3.5 years)
Samsung Galaxy S23 (work phone, best phone I've ever owned)
Samsung Galaxy S9 (will be sent to me for FREE in a week)
Motorola Razr 5G (previous work phone, retiring it)
Google Pixel 3 (my 3rd favorite phone of all-time, retired)
Apple iPhone SE 2022 (still an iPhone I use daily to browse)
Apple iPhone 2016 (greatest small phone of all-time, not Z1C)
Sony Xperia XZ2 (my first Xperia, still has great battery)
Essential PH-1 (used mostly to store porn, still solid)
Xiaomi Mi 3 (oldest phone I own approaching 11 years, still turns on).
Server King 9000 (tiny little phone to watch shows)
LG G5 (still solid, use it for Pluto TV and TG remote)
I've owned around 50-60 different phones from like 20+ different brands. Hate Scamsung all you want because you prefer Sony, a Chinese brand like Xiaomi or Vivo, you miss old Nokia, BlackBerry, LG and HTC, or you love your precious and boring iPhone so much
Samsung ranks among the elite for phone makers. They will never go away. Neither will iPhone.
So only Apple is allowed to raise prices and not Samsung after they gave us so many legendary phones?
Galaxy S1 through S24 (S7 edge, S8, S9, and S23 are standouts)
Galaxy Note 1-5 (skip 7), 8-10, 20-21
Galaxy Ultra S21-S24
Galaxy Z Fold 1-6
Galaxy Z Flip 1-6
Samsung is practically the GOAT of smartphone manufacturers. They do their stuff mostly in-house. It's Apple and the Chinese that copies Samsung by using their chips, OLEDs, and folding displays

I was Samsung user (but not a fanboy - too old for that nonsense) for many years. Since S4 if I'm not mistaken. But Samsung starts to seriously dissappoint with recycling old stuff for more money. I've sold my S23U expecting S25U to be WOW, but it's the same s**t. And now they add more bloatware called AI. I'd better put my money to the brand that has more value. I'm very seriously considering iphone.

I guess Samsung is falling for the same crap all tech companies are nowadays. The run for more profit, the stakeholders are very thirsty and they want more money. So what Samsung has to do is to just freaking iterate the same thing over and over again, put a new chipset in it, raise the nits a bit and boom, a new generation. Frankly, I wouldn't have a problem with that if we would be talking about apple, but Samsung...they were innovating man. Cameras, displays, batteries, all kinds of ingenious stuff they did until the s20. And then after s20 everything went downhill. S21 is just a joke. S22 is the same joke with some fixes. S23 is really fixing the s21 for good. S24 is just optimization of s23, but barely noticeable. And now...s25 is kind of the same as s24. They probably poured the entire budget into ai crap. Frankly I would like to upgrade my s20 but I see no reason.
