Anonymous, 22 Jan 2025Looking at the specs it seems that Xiaomi flagships have be... moreI just took a picture of an evenly lit white wall with my S23 Ultra and noticed that, while there's very little vignette to speak of in the RAW image, the corners are significantly noisier than the centre of the frame. It's very likely that Samsung bakes in the vignette correction in the RAW file itself to create an illusion of an "evenly lit" frame.
The vignette (or its lack thereof) isn't the sole indication of the lens's optical quality, anyway. For smartphone cameras, obviously resolution and contrast matter the most, but the shape of/how smooth the bokeh is becomes the key to fluttering photos at a longer focal length. Samsung's lenses usually have terrible bokeh even for the smartphone standard, from what I have seen.

Too much domination from A... moreI’ll be honest, as much as I want other smartphone makers to come to the US, if they don’t sell through carrier deals then they won’t do well here unfortunately. OnePlus stopped selling their flagships through T-Mobile starting with the 11. That was the only way to get a OnePlus flagship via a carrier in the US. Still mad they made that decision.

If the international version will have the radio bands like the 14T Pro, it's great, it will have support for US bands and could be technically used in US.
The 14 Ultra doesn't have them.

If they'd release the usually better specced China-only version globally then yes, those phones definitely'd make to my shortlist. I've found myself having held off on a smartphone purchase, waiting for the offical announcements and releases, only to be disappointed by the spreadsheetmarketeers-driven "sorry not sorry, China only version" statement on more than just one occasion. So major props to Xiaomi for giving that shortsighted mentality the proverbial finger.

vik457, 22 Jan 2025Joke's on you, two big players don't even need qc... moreAre you a previous user of Xiaomi 14 Ultra, the UI is still not a favorite. Use their products like Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 4G. (* Regarding UI, each person's subjective opinion, Xiaomi Hyperos 2 needs to adapt again, buy a new Xiaomi product again. Unlike other Android OS UIs) Updated software is necessary. How can Samsung and Google Pixel give a 7 and 8 year software guarantee / Redmi Note 14 4G gives a 4 year software guarantee, it's quite good for an Android OS. Xiaomi brand, not a new brand anymore. The brand is already big, the company was founded in 2010 and now it's 2025. That means it's 25 years old, which means the company is no longer a kid. How can a company rely on cheap prices and continue to sell since the age of 25. Doesn't Xiaomi want to become a branded company and the most valuable company name in the world.

Yes 14 Ultra has a fogging issue. This was the main reason why we did not buy it.
Will not be buying 15 Ultra until it is clear that issue is gone, otherwise no money for you xiaomi again.

I see Xiaomi and vivo are mentioned here as reference camera phones.. remind me please - isn't one of the brands famous with foggy lens outdoors, while the other released special software to remove flash glare from photos due to bad hw design of the camera and led on the back?
Bottom line is.. careful with propaganda, guys!
