sdkk, 23 Jan 2025If Samsung is so concerned about the environment and e-wast... moreIt's called a business. They're not tricking. They're selling. And Samsung isn't the only one guilty of this. Everyone in the phone industry is guilty. OEMs are better off releasing a new phone every 2 years. But then automobiles are the same way. They release a design of a car that practically looks the same as last year. They use designs for 5 years and that gets called a generation. Should automobile manufacturers stop releasing cars every year because 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 models all looks the same?

Everyone in every industry recycles the same things over and over to consumers. A new laptop may look the same as the one from 2 years ago. That's how business works. We could easily say the Switch 2 is the same thing to the Switch 1 from 8 years ago. I do wish Samsung returned to their designs from 2015-2019.

Exynos 990 runs so hot that it melted the adhesive from the glass back... Oh and it's display also got the green line issue... If that wasn't enough, the battery backup is average (was actually acceptable even a year ago), and the standby drain is abysmal...

sdkk, 23 Jan 2025If Samsung is so concerned about the environment and e-wast... moreyes, lack of easy battery replacement and lack of original batteries on the market is the bigger concern for environment. If there was easy way to switch battery and buy original batteries for smartphones, there would be less e-waste.

they could use Si/C batteries wich are more mother nature friendly. scamsung keep doing tricking consumers with these marketinng flags "recycle" "no charger" .... all b.s

          Samsung really loves the environment.

They love it so much that they're even recycling the same components and designs from over 3 years ago in their latest phones. Now that's true commitment to environmental protection. 🤭🤭🤭

And they even mention 4 year system fluidity

I think all these indirectly makes a case for smartphones that a less disposable out of the box

Anonymous, 23 Jan 2025Exactly, why are they still using Lithium-Colbalt batteries... moreIf Samsung is so concerned about the environment and e-waste, the bigger question is why, for the fifth year in a row, are they tricking people into throwing away their old phone and buying a new one that's basically the same?

PetrovBG, 23 Jan 2025Seriously, you believe Samsung really cares? Why don't... moreExactly, why are they still using Lithium-Colbalt batteries when everyone else is moving onto Silicon-Carbon batteries if they really cared about the environment and cobalt mining?

Among the 3 R's: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, the recycle is last because it has the least priority ideally.
Recycling involves burning of fuel or energy, it should be last choice, if nothing else is workable.

Won't comment on Samsung, but the way Xiaomi is operating in India, they don't want reduce and reuse in any case. All they want is recycle. New Money from sales is obviously the reason.
Spare parts of even Redmi Note 8 or 9 is not available in service centers.

Well, at least they are using something recycled, other than the design of course.

And why don't they offer 3.5mm jack, but force their customers to use disposable headphones with batteries?
