If Oppo is trying to break back into the European/Global market, why aren't they releasing their elite model there?

Crackling Doom, 27 Jan 2025I always thought the best fingerprint scanner placement was... moreOh my, I had that unit, and man I loved it to death (its death, when it inadvertently took a plunge :( ) . That 7,2” inch screen was pure screen goodness indeed, and that fingerprint scanner placement on the back was genius. Even without facial recognicion I could easily pick it up and unlock with one hand through muscle memory. Really hoped that other brands would follow suit, but alas, the virulent marketing jockeys and their useful idiot fanboiis had to barge in and decide to screw up everything, by pushing the narrative that "in-screen fingerprint sensors are da beez kneez" and "no one with a sane mind would want a cellie with a screen diagonal 7+ inches". Well, Í do.

Cake, 27 Jan 2025I was waiting for an international launch……"Initially, OPPO’s UK division indicated that the Find X8 Ultra would not be released globally. However, it seems OPPO is now reconsidering this decision. Based on recent developments, we can confidently say that OPPO is indeed planning a global launch for the Find X8 Ultra."
From Smartprix writer/leaker Yogesh Brar. Remains to be seen if they are correct.

jiyen235, 27 Jan 2025sh*tty processing? more like non-existent processing lol cu... moreExactly! Basically zero! I mean, there is that "13.3x" (second click on the 6x) but I don't like it that much as it heavily processes the photo (looks like more compensation for the lack of tele-macro) so I'll just end up with over clarified pics for no reason
You can use master effects like Serenity and Radiance to brighten up the color science a bit but it's not always suitable so yeah

Weird decisions made by Oppo man.

jerem06, 27 Jan 2025No international launch and periscope zoom that remains stu... morewho cares? I want zoom quality. Longer focal length zooms would result in horrible quality due to smaller sensors for the zoom lens, as longer focal lengths require more space so they combat this issue by having smaller sensors for example the S Ultra phones OR the P40 Pro+/Mate 40 Pro+.
So in the end you'd either get a long range shooter that's not that impressive alongside an alright intermediate zoom lens or a long range shooter that's good but due to a lack of an intermediate zoom lens the zoom consistency/usable zoom range is tiny. I despise the iPhones for their 1x to 5x difference, that's a huge gap, the quality is terrible after 2x till 5x, same on the Xiaomi 15 Pro.

Crackling Doom, 27 Jan 2025Dumb question but what is "heavy-denoising"? I ha... morebasically, when you take a photo you're gonna have some noise and at night time the sensor compensates with higher ISO which is a digital way of gathering light and results in more noise as you go higher in ISO. So in order to combat this phones denoise, in other words attempt to remove the noise from the photos. What the other commenter is referring to here is a HEAVY approach of this denoising, as a result of this, the details are smoothed out. It results in little to no noise but the resulting image has little detail left as well.

xslvrxslwt, 27 Jan 2025One of the best upcoming phones. I've got the Find X7 ... morei don't care about any of these issues. My main problem is the halo effect that human subjects have in high contrast scenarios, i thought it was a one off back in the day but this problem has persisted for years now. It was there for the Find X6 Pro and it's here with the Oneplus 13 as well. I haven't seen any high contrast shots on the Find X8 Pro yet but im pretty sure it will suffer from that problem as well. If Oppo fixes that im ready to get the phone DESPITE the super smoothed out night time shots because Oppo's global characteristics like colors/exposure are excellent.

That's why Vivo and Xiaomi are 3.7x/4.3x (Xiaomi having the larger camera bump than the rest, of course)
Also, I believe some people noted it will go global.
What OPPO has the problem with is using the Hi-Res feature of the sensor, i.e. 2x and cropping in into the sensor, even that tiny sensor had so much potential and oppo nerfed it with shitty processing..

No international launch and periscope zoom that remains stuck at x6. Certainly the size of the periscope zoom is larger but no evolution on the amplitude of the zoom

One of the best upcoming phones. I've got the Find X7 Ultra and it's nuts, I wish they fixed the heavy-denoising and smoothing (especially in low-light, it's unusable) as well as night video. Portrait mode is the best out there as no phone gets more details out of the human face. 24MP mode processing is spot-on too, though it has some small errors and inconsistencies

I think the X8 look is pretty awesome. Trying to get that 'analog' camera feel. I'm probably too cheap to buy one at retail though

It won't be a feature I miss particularly although i can see why it used to appeal. While it felt nice to swipe for gestures and the like, that only worked on a naked screen and you'd either have to pay for a more expensive curved screen protector or apply a flat one that you could never quite get to sit right and would then lose that nice smooth feeling.
Also it would always just give an extra bit of surface area that would increase your shatter risk if you dropped the phone because there'd be more "worst case" angles for the phone to land on.

I personally love the 4d curved screens that have become popular. They make so much sense for all the swiping in from the side gestures that all the OS's use these days. They make for a smooth roll on to the screen from the frame but the actual part of the screen with pixels is flat.
