Mass production of Apple M5 begins, new generation will focus on AI performance

The expectation is that we see the vanilla M5 first (likely inside iPad Pros), to be followed by Pro, Max and even an Ultra version later on.

    advertising them for the investors, while the consumers are the beta testers and the remunerator.
    even when the hardware and / or software are not ready for release.

        Anonymous, 05 Feb 2025it seems you dont know the M1 and M4..you lack knowledge Nope. The M4 is faster of course, but throttle more. Apple refuses to give their chips better cooling and it shows in the end results. Since you can only get those chips in their systems, it is simply getting worse and worse over the years.

                          Year 2024 and onward (probably for the next 5 years, before the AI bubbles burst) is full of AI crap all over the place.                                 Actually the improvement between m3 and m4 in case of NPU is rather small, they only changed the way they benchmark and market it (on M3 it used FP16 as marketing/benchmarking and on M4 they measured INT8 because Qualcomm was boasting about this)

                                  In words, their chip that already got worse and worse with every new gen will be even less impressive with the M5. They managed to turn the thermaly cool, really surprising M1 into more and more of a space heater. The amount of maximum heat pumped out by every new gen has gotten worse and worse. A combination of more and more power draw and Apples insane lazyness regarding a redesigned cooling system.
