Yes, Si/C batteries seem to not proportionally increase battery life by the same amount that a traditional battery would've. But the point is that they're giving bigger batteries which last more. The Oneplus 13 is better than its predecessor whilst being lighter and thinner. And whatever gains Samsung got this year is by throttling the processor or resorting to other cheap tricks like Apple, for example perhaps reducing the refresh rate, cus you can't just keep "optimizing".

I don't get why people get mad at wattage ratings or battery size ratings not exactly culminating in a proportionally different experience, all that matters is what you get in the end, what YOU experience. Doesn't matter if it's a 10000 mah battery or a 1000 mah one. And the Oneplus 13 is just simply superior to the Samsung in both battery tests and long term/heavy load tests. Samsung's better at short burst stuff it seems like loading apps, but that's it.

Danielzzz, 06 Feb 2025Ever heard Silicon Battery Lol, Silicon batteries are still mostly experimental, don't act like they're a solved problem. Even 5000mAh lithium phones have been outperforming 6000mAh silicon phones in real-world use. They re promising, but not ready for prime time

calling the Mate XT tri-fold is really dumb. 🤦‍♂️ like you've correctly stated it folds twice so it's a dual-fold/bi-fold.. it's like referring to 1440p as "2K" 🙄 it doesn't make any logical sense.

4.2mm? The battery life on that thing is gonna be measured in minutes, not hours. Better carry around a generator.

lol.... how thick is Z fold 7 again ? I am so impress with this Open 2 and V3; Sammy is left behind after sitting on its Axx for the last 4 years. Say what you like Sammy defenders, that's the truth you cannot defend, their sales volume for the Z series speaks for themselves, with each year worse than the former as not much significant change in the last 4 years, Sammy only decides to wake up and Rush for the Fold SE after behind left behind by all the competitors, it still has the Thickest foldables Raspberry trophy compared with the Chinese and Google large foldables.
Sammy a disgrace after being the pioneer, they did next to nothing each year and squander their position. Looks like they are still going to be using the same old 4400MAh, when Oppo N5/Oneplus open 2 using a close to 6000Mah. NO matter how good the Fold 7 software is it cannot beat the massive 6000Mah and this also charges faster, imagine if only Oneplus can optimise their software; it will end Samsung for good in the Euro, US market and even in Aus.
Its all over for Z fold 7 if

David 040882, 05 Feb 2025So then, knowing that 8-9mm thick won't seem thick for... moreif they had that idea and stopped at 10 mm then we wouldn't have had these changes. The key is to keep pushing for better and better hardware. They can stop and go back to iterating when they've hit their goal of 8.5-ish mm which i think is their target. I don't really get your point, a bigger battery at this point would mean phones would have to be 10 mm or larger due to the camera hardware. I'm pretty sure you guys would start complaining about the thickness of the phone at that point again.

You have to understand that each half being 4 mm won't equal to the phone being 8 mm when folded, there's the hinge and the fact that the screen needs some space in between to breath, we have "gapless" foldable phones now but it's just trickery and in the folded state there still is a gap that needs to be there for the safety/durability of the screen.

I think a more robust display surface would be much more important. At the moment the display coating can be scratched with a fingernail.

Darth Caesium, 05 Feb 2025Hell I would argue that 9-9.5mm is fine enough too.So then, knowing that 8-9mm thick won't seem thick for 90% of people in this world, why are companies focusing so much on making smartphones as thin as possible? If anything, it increases the fragility of the phone, and decreases the amount of space for a big battery. It's all purely just for attention and for the sake to prove that they can, that's what it is about.
