And I will be keeping a closer eye on Motorola in the future to be sure.

On a side note about those Moto's, have got to admit to being pretty impressed with them. Considering I paid less than £200 for each, they are decent device's with nice specs for that price. I even picked up a G35 to just serve as a spare, that's a £130 phone and even it is on December security and January Play services.

Why would you even have to do such a thing? The latest version of anything and everything should've just been pre-installed on a brand new device.

Well that's kind of my point though, and I get Samsung possibly being a little late with monthly security versions (though again, I have been led to believe they are usually pretty much on the ball with those) but aren't Play service updates supposed to be pushed by Google directly, and out of OEM's hands? I can't find a reason why the most recent version wouldn't be available for any Android capable of running it. Google's own help advice on this issue, which simply tells you to 'clear the app cache', does nothing.
Bear in mind I have been running iOS devices for the past 7 years, where for better or worse, at least updates were just available across the board the moment they were released. I am still getting back into Android's rather more murky 'update' situation.

DaFink, 10 Feb 2025Ok, am i missing something.....
I been reading on here f... morePeople who are saying that Samsung is the best at updates are only looking at how long the software support is, which means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, when most S Ultra users switch after 1-3 years, people might keep standard and Plus S series for a bit longer, but definitely not for 7 years. It's also pointless when the updates are so extremely late, that the S24 Ultra is basically already outdated at this point, INTENTIONALLY outdated at that, because there is 0% of chance that I will ever believe, that the update for those phones still hasn't been finished.
"And the 'Google Play system update' is stuck on the 1st of October."
That is absolutely ridiculous, even my Infinix Zero Ultra that is still running Android 13 is ahead of that as well.
"Yet the S25 Ultra I have recently purchased is on December security."
My Motorola Edge 30 Ultra has the January Security Patch, and Moto is famous for their really bad update support.

Ok, am i missing something.....
I been reading on here for a long time about how Samsung are one of the better Android OEM when it comes to system updates. Yet the S25 Ultra I have recently purchased is on December security. And the 'Google Play system update' is stuck on the 1st of October.
I know Play system updates are controlled by Google directly, but It's weird that this brand new flagship device won't update. I bought my two children Motorola G series phones (the G85 and G55) and both are running Play System versions dated 1st January. I thought Google had the ability to push those update silently in the background, so how come my S2U won't pick up?
Oh and both those Moto phones (as well as the Pixel 8a I got for my wife) have gotten the January security patch as well. Meaning the two

GAMIR3DH, 09 Feb 2025Yes, way better than anyone but Google. 😃If they are so much better than the rest of the market, then where is the very clearly already finished and stable Android 15 update for the S24 series? Even 3 year old phones from other brands got the update already, if Samsung really wanted to show that they are better than everyone, then even the S21 series should've already gotten the update 2 months ago. That would've been impressive, what they are currently doing is just impressively sad.

Markus , 09 Feb 2025One thing to me that doesn't make sense is the S25 ser... morethat there is probably the exact reason why they havent, the only real tangible differences between the 25series and last years models is just that (esp the base 25 and 25+).. they come with one ui7 running..so as frustrating as it is, it makes sense for sammy to hold off with a general release with the 25 series having only just been made available.
