Anyone who is laughing at metalenses is completely delusional. It's a completely revolutionary advancement in optics that has an extremely large area of usecases. Even antennae in modems could benefit from it.

                                    For phone sensors, I can see metalenses enabling 4/3"-type sensors to be used, and if they can find a way to make zoom lenses with them, then you could have camera bumps thinner than Chinese OEMs using just the aforementioned sensor, with a wide range of focal lengths. Obviously, this is for the future, not now or in 2-3 years' time.
