•50MP Sony LYT-900 (1.0"-type) main camera with 23mm focal length
•50MP Sony IMX858 (1/2.51"-type) 3× telephoto with 70mm focal length
•200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP9 (1/1.14"-type) 4.3× periscope telephoto with 100m focal length
•50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN5 (1/2.74"-type) ultrawide with 12mm focal length
You do also have to agree that Xiaomi's processing is very good now, they've fixed most of the issues they had for years around the many edge cases they suffered with. It's not perfect, not that any OEM's processing is, but it's still more natural than many of their competitors.

You know anything about transistor or photodiode stacking? You know anything about lofic or split-diode? The design of the edge has become obsolete, although I like it myself, but its maintenance and use have many negative points
I didn't say anywhere in my text that Samsung is the best, and your resistance to accepting the reality and bringing up the name s24 is only and only because you are a Xiaomi fan.
I am a photographer, I have a Sony Alpha series camera, my phones are Xiaomi note 13 pro+ and Sony 1 vi, you can never expect a camera from a phone, not even ten percent can be compared to photography cameras.
So it is better for companies to add more practical features to smartphones instead of doing things like this and increasing the lens frame for no reason to fool the user.
Xiaomi's flagships have never been successful in sales, and the reason for this is their fanciful and unreasonable moves
In my opinion, even the note 13 pro+ has a more stylish and premium design than the ugly and rough ultra series.

vik457, 11 Feb 2025And it isn't even that heavy considering the component... moreafaik they axed some feature/piece of hardware in order to meet the lower weight target and to me, that's just sad. They might have used cheaper materials for the S25 Ultra as well, not to mention the removal of the bluetooth stuff on the S Pen. All in all, despite the S Pen, the S25 Ultra isn't light.
I do think though that the S25 Ultra is perfectly usable in terms of weight and anyone complaining should just change their priorities.
I don't understand why people want a unicorn, the phone that can do it all. They want a compact phone that can have a big screen with amazing cameras and the most comfortable build that's the lightest and thinnest around but fail to understand that not only is this an R&D nightmare, the costs would be so high that these people wouldn't even afford it. I'm sure even if these phones were "only" 2000-2500 dollars, people would still not buy these hypothetical "perfect" phones.
People just want to complain and will use any idiotic reasoning to justify their feelings instead of actually facing facts or trying to understand the situation. I hate midwits so much.

Tester, 11 Feb 2025First, this is a mobile phone, not a camera
Second, ergono... more1.) Ok, and? What's your point?
2.) Have you held the phone? Do you understand that weight distribution only helps a little and a phone being lightweight actually leads to a more ergonomic use case? Also, wdym not the edge of the screen? Have you held and compared curved phones compared to flat ones? What in the world are you on about?
3.) You don't understand photography if you don't like Xiaomi cameras. If you look at the spec sheet, this has perhaps the best camera hardware on a phone out there, what more do you want? What are you even complaining about? Have you seen Xiaomi's processing in action? Are you really comparing Xiaomi to Samsung here and saying that somehow Samsung the best cameraphones? Or even Sony? Have you looked at their hardware? Have you seen the RAW photos? Have you seen the excessive noise? Have you seen the horrendous processing meant to deal with all this?
This "simple" look you're talking about, what does it even mean? Samsung and Sony's phones look extremely similar, Apple's phones look a certain way and Huawei's phones look quite unique and the Mate phones look kinda similar to this. So I ask you again, what's your point?
4.) This design is not for a smartphone? Why? If you want a lighter phone, go get the base Galaxy S25, if you want a cheap phone, go get the Nothing Phone 2a. But if you want the best cameraphone with the best battery, charging, speakers and all that, you NEED a phone that's thicker and heavier than others.
I seriously doubt your thinking abilities. You simply cannot conceive a reality different than what you like/want and that's exactly why Android exists, to provide options so that people like you AND me both can get phones we want. I truly don't understand your point. "I don't like it therefore it shouldn't exist!!!". Imagine if people said that about big phones back in 2014 and we were stuck with phones with thick bezels and 5.5" screens. Imagine if people said that about added cameras on phones and we were stuck with a tiny 12 mp cam. Is that what you want? Your stupidity amazes me.

jiyen235, 11 Feb 2025Nobody said this phone is an ergonomic nightmare. However n... moreFirst, this is a mobile phone, not a camera
Second, ergonomics is not only the edge of the screen, it is better to pay attention to the thick price and the bad placement of the circular camera frame, and that there is no balance of weight and surface on the back of the phone, and the phone is really a disaster in the hand.
Third, with a simple look at the companies that own the old style in the mobile field (Samsung, Apple, Huawei, Sony), you can understand that this design style is more attention-grabbing and does not represent the best camera.
And finally, it is better to accept the fact that this design is not for a smart phone (for the same reason that Samsung Galaxy Zoom was not)

The edges are sharp, but not horizontally sharp as one could imagine from looking at the phone. They are sharp vertically, which can't be seen/expected..
Not sure I can describe it clear for those who haven't had the device in hand.. Imagine a shark edge at each of 4 corners, which is mounted perpendicular to the screen

Tester, 10 Feb 2025In the end, this is a smartphone and we want to hold it in ... moreNobody said this phone is an ergonomic nightmare. However nearly everyone who has used the S24 Ultra HAS said that. And the iPhones are big and bulky as well. The flat sides may look/feel "premium" to the average consumer but are EXTREMELY uncomfortable, compared to curved back/sides at least. I tried an S23 Ultra after using my S22 Ultra and that phone felt like a brick so i can't imagine how much worse the S24 Ultra is.
You don't really understand what function over form means. It means the product is emphasizing practicality/real life use cases instead of just looks/aesthetics. Doesn't matter if a phone is ugly or not if the phone is good and Xiaomi's phones have some of the best cameras, even for an average consumer, and they're THE BEST for professional/hobbyist photographers/enthusiasts due to the styles Xiaomi has and the nice feature set.
What are you on about?

Luke, 10 Feb 2025So now suddenly AI isn't just a bloatware, lack of inn... moreAI is a bad thing to be touted as a main feature/USP. It should be a bonus ALONGSIDE other amazing innovations for example better speakers, battery, display and/or most importantly, cameras. Xiaomi's bringing the best rear camera hardware available alongside deepseek integration.
Samsung and Google act like their AI smarts are the main selling point, when it doesn't really matter as you can just get their old phones and get the same feature set with an update and other phones are slowly getting most of the AI features as well.
So, what's your point?

I really hope they realse something actually worthwile for a decent price... smartphone market in the west and especially in the EU is utter garbage.
Might as well jump from one used throwaway phone to the next and contribute to tech landfills in Africa, so much for sustainability but I don't care if everyone's trying to rip me off.

I've been thrilled for 2 months at the idea of getting the 15 Ultra. Yet as long as there seems to be absolutely no valid reason for offering less specs to global markets, I feel like we're simply being deceived, ignored and humiliated. Why would we be getting anything less than the Chinese market? I'd rather get another brand that respects us - that wouldn't be Samsung, given its lack of innovation (as well as offering less specs in global markets) and likely not an iPhone since I'm used to the Android. Possibly Google or Vivo, then. Incredibly upset at this utterly stupid marketing.
