Why do we ne... moreAlso PWM oled causes headache, eyestrain, nausea, etc. If you are working for hours on a computer, use LCD, i never had issue when in my decades of working long hours until oled was used. That's why stopped buying latest apple macbook when they used oleds, once my current apple macbook(IPS LCD) no longer work or slows down, i'll move to a non apple laptop with ips lcd screen.

Anyone know how this will impact the thickness of the screen? Conventional OLED is supposed up be thinner than even mini-LED, but will the dual-tandem technology negate that benefit?

jellydaemon, 12 Feb 2025Wah wah wah something something LCD is better than OLED wah... moreCan we just let people prefer LCDs over OLEDs? Why do we need to bash them for preferring LCDs? There are reasons why people prefer LCDs, which include productivity, the need for static elements all the time, burn-in on OLEDs, etc.

Darth Caesium, 12 Feb 2025Let's gooooooooooooo Tester's wrong about iphones and pixel being amongst the most accurate cameras on phones, what with oversharpening, tonemapping, reliance on reconstruction and upscaling, destructive denoising and he's also not getting that xiaomi has way less overexposure than before.

Just like Windows, MacOS has static elements (The top menu bar and the bottom dock) so this will inevitably result in burn-in after several years. This is why I never purchase any laptops with OLED panels and am planning to stick to a mini LED or a regular LCD panel until micro LED becomes a thing.
The silver lining here is that we might be able to see the mini LED panels trickling down to the MacBook Air in the next few years - One of the most, if not the most, prominent reasons why some people choose to buy the MacBook Pro.
