Slider is annoying. Always triggering it by mistake when putting phone in pocket.
Buttons are superior.

I can see not wanting the slider to go away, but that doesn't make the button useless. If anything, the button is more versatile. Haven't used OnePlus, but I'd wager it's easier to use something like Tasker with a button, than it is with the slider. None of my teenage friends use the slider.
It's also somewhat of a gimmick for any outsider. How many people are buying their first OnePlus/Oppo for the alert slider or the button? It is unique sure. But unique ≠ used by all. They would've deserved the bashing had they removed it, and provided no replacement. But they did, and the replacement might even be better; and it's easier to use for newcomers.

So silly. Apple did something stupid, and now everyone around will copy it. In fact, the slider is more convenient and useful. Android manufacturers keep digging their own graves, wiping our differentiation between iPhone and Android devices and trying to copy every single thing Apple does irrespective of its usefulness.

Just put a camera button like on the xperia and let us customize what it does. It's in a good spot, you can use it as a camera shutter in the camera app and switch it to something else when not in camera. Why is it so difficult for these companies to figure out what people would actually use?

Oh Oppo, please don't use a hungarian genius's product name for something so useless.
