You just have to enable Google services in the settings menu, and install Google Play. After that, log in to google account on Play and you are good to go. Calls, SMS, Wifi, Whatsapp, FB, all works without a hitch. Security on Chinese ROM is much better also, so most notifications is off. You have to turn on for each app you use, for eg, Whataspp. Also by default, to save power, the phone can cut internet access off if the phone is inactive, you need to turn that off for apps you use for messaging and calls, eg, whatsapp.

There's no need to have wifi enabled to make phones calls in a Chinese firmware. I had a Z60 Ultra using Chinese MyOS 14.5, and everything worked exactly as if it was a global phone. That including phone calls, VoLTE, SMS, data, Play integrity API related apps like Google Wallet, etc. If your country applies rules against imported phones, then that's your problem and not a general rule.

                  think of it like this: if you imported an oppo a3 pro from china, but you will resort on using chinese rom, and the moment you want to put your sim card in, it won't pick up any reception yet.

                          All Chinese mobiles have Google Services (except Huawei) but they are disabled
                          Enabling them again is very easy, there are even online stores that do it for you and delete all those Chinese apps that you are not going to use in Europe.

                          You can send SMS, you can make payments, you can do everything and whatever you want. ///

                          The only difference is that the Chinese warranty does not cover you in Europe, and I think Chinese phones do not have e-sim.

Android... morefirst off, No google services. most people could not live with it, especially when they are used to android phones, and google play store is the known way to download apps and games, secondly. IMEI related issues. you cannot basically use mobile data, make calls and text. this ends up having wifi only smartphone. unless if you already have a dedicated mobile router or secondary device with you.
