Weekly poll: is getting the Xiaomi 15 Ultra worth it?

01 March 2025
It has one of the best smartphone cameras that we've seen yet and it's a great all-round flagship too, but it's not cheap.

potato4k, 01 Mar 2025Since when a Xiaomi phone over $500 is worth it? Trash OS, ... moreYou've clearly never owned one of their flagships. Even the old 10T Pro was an amazing phone and one of the first with 108MP camera and lightning fast OS at bargain price. For Xiaomi flagships they come with the best CPU (in this case Snapdragon Elite), leica cameras, fastest charging, razor sharp display and a massive battery. Even the storage is UFS 4.0 or better and they have USB 3.2. I'm not sure what you're complaining about but they don't cut corners even on the RedMi phones. All the devices are priced quite well except their ultra series which in the West are expensive mostly due to taxes. The price in China is extremely fair.

    "offers class-leading endurance"
    "video processing can be improved"

Good Why GSMArena talking like they already tested it.

"Make a Samsung account or else we'll bother you once every few days".

Those are fine, but if a Chinese phone does the same thing it's HORRIBLE!1111 Like bro, what? Why the double standards? I hate all of them equally, why should we be basically forced/coerced into opting for an optional thing? Just so they can earn a few bucks in the theme store/by selling our data?

People hate on Chinese phones 24/7 yet glaze companies who know every single detail about them.

Darth Caesium, 01 Mar 2025It's really good, but if I could, I would get the Vivo... moremost people. The average person doesn't really understand the importance/beauty of a 35mm cam. And i'd go so far as to say that they don't really care.

As long as Samsung/Apple are touting something as the next big thing, the average person will eat anything up. We used to get 26-31mm main cams on phones and now anything more than 24mm is considered cropped in. The power of being "industry standard" ig.

On it's own, it's debatable, but the shameless products other companies have been putting out. It looks like a good deal.

And besides subjective factors like appearance and software, it is a well rounded phone for 2025 norms.

Legacy hardware cutouts put aside, it is a good phone but current economy makes everything overpriced.

So yeah, comparatively it is a good deal but that's only because making products with at least one major flaw is the new marketing strategy and every manufacturer abuses it. No saints in this game.

            😂😂😂

            I did not know that.

                "video processing can be improved"
How do we know that? Has video quality been tested and reviewed or is this statement based on video-specs? So far, I have not seen any video tests.

Maybe one comment on the 1"-type sensor of the main camera: The sheer size advantage is someow wasted behind a very wide (for a main camera) 23mm lens. They should instead us a focal length of 27-28mm, which is wide enough but photographially much more versatile.

Since when a Xiaomi phone over $500 is worth it? Trash OS, trash support, you're buying spec on paper. And that much even in China? LOL. I'd take Vivo anytime.

Worth it? No, not even looking at it. The only numbers in Xiaomi tables and sheets, which are true are..the money they deduct from you account. All the rest is a coin toss and +-50% close to reality

I'm choosing the 14 Ultra over this literally only because they removed the option to change the aperture on the main shooter. Constant aperture of F1.6 sucks for landscape or macro.

That camera island is very ugly.

I'm xiaomi hater, yet this is first xiaomi phone that I want.

There no 15/pro models in europe so forget ultra ultill autumn and when appers, competitors will have better phones with newest hardware

It's very good apart from the video quality on the camera. The video is seriously oversharpened and very heavy in contrast during the day which looks really unnatural. Decent night video though. Apart from the video quality I couldn't fault it too much (as long as you are ok with Hyper OS)

Silly question, no phones above $1000 is worth it, you will do exactly the same with it as a midranger.

Just tried it out a few minutes ago. Always a conundrum for me with these ultras. Is it worth living with the very poor in hand feel for the cameras? Both the 15 pro and especially the regular 15 feel so much better in hand and the pro is basically the same apart from cameras (exact same screen). Basically you sacrifice the daily use experience for the cameras
