cyber, 02 Mar 2025teens want an iphone and not anything elseWho cares what they want? When they provide for themselves, then they should spend their 3 months worth of salary, depending on the country and chores, on an iphlone... i'd like to see that happening.

Kloot, 03 Mar 2025In the US we can get a $1300 Samsung or Iphone, a few Motos... moreYeah, we understand, you are from USA... as for hmd what they do is called marketing for a brand that does not have enough money to show off, so instead of fighting against chinese invasion of devices, they instead they try to find a market for themselves, that's about it. So they actually reinvent themselves almost every year, to fin the right product that can't be touched by others. I find that they actually do a lot of good, and yes a lot of bad too, but for a small vomoany like hmd, is ok. Tehy should try harder tough, i give you that much.

When you talk and have no idea what you're talking about....
Carrier phones are the worse and nobody whants a phone like that, locked and no way to resale or use on other carriers, i mean nobody! Maybe only if the country forces them to do so or the finance...

it should works well, secured yet well monitored.

Instead of wasting money on these useless cash grabs that only certain people from some "countries" would buy, HMD would be better off working with carriers to manufacture custom devices for them. At least that would give them a solid cash flow and would clean their image a little bit.
Everything decision since 2018 launch of those X.1 plus model has been a huge mistake on HMD and it seems they can recover and get their head out of their *ss. It's as if Finlands are stuck up on drugs and cant think anymore, not even for their local European market or the North American one.

In the US we can get a $1300 Samsung or Iphone, a few Motos, and for some reason these paperweight class devices work here. Not a single Xiaomi, Vivo, et al.
I'd take a TCL nxtpaper over this thing ffs. HMD continues what I presume is a money laundering operation, because no way they are actually trying to be in the phone business

XCIV, 03 Mar 2025I don't understand why HMD can't make a proper mi... moreThe Skyline itself is well-balanced and reasonable at its discounted price (US$350, varies by region), if you consider that alternatives such as the Galaxy A55 compromises on RAM and a telephoto camera at its launch price, and the Oppo Reno12 Pro (namesake due to being a subpar later iteration) compromises on both the main camera and reuses the same dated 8MP ultrawide with an all-plastic unibody and a weaker chipset (Dimensity 7300), the Realme 13 Pro+ with a limited availability and its Vivo V series counterpart lacking a telephoto camera. The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ has higher storage, but disappoints with the camera setup and chipset. The Honor X9b was also sold at a similar price with worse overall specifications, but makes up for that with a better IP rating on paper and higher storage. The Motorola Edge 50 is also decent, but uses the suboptimal Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 AE. All of the above alternatives also have one big problem: bloatware.
But yes, they could've made a flagship counterpart to the Skyline and make it a compelling alternative to the subpar Zenfone that came out recently. The problem is likely with their funding, with little to no investors backing them up, apart from those who have purchased their phones.

HopeFilledIdiot, 02 Mar 2025A "Teen" would absolutely laugh at these devices.... moreYou obviously haven't noticed e-waste second hand iPhone 11s, SEs and XRs dumped in millions into third world countries, then. Some of those are likely stolen before dumping, and they get blacklisted, 2-3 months after the gullible teens purchase those.

I'm not sure what HMD is trying to accomplish with its portfolio, but I see no way they will survive for a long time in the market...

Lmao, if i were a teen i would probably grieve and pressure my parents into buying me a poco x6/x7 pro. If not i would be ok with a redmi note, infinix or a second hand iPhone 11.
Teens care about camera and gaming performance, they also care about showing off, so many are opting for second hand old apple devices. My friend sells phones for a living and most sold devices are second hand refurbished iPhone 11, most buyers are female teenagers. I live in a poorer country with high import taxes. iPhone 11 still costs around 280-300$ in good condition. Boys are less spoiled, most of them get infinix hot series with helio g96/99/100 or whatever. ( Cod Mobile and freefire are most played games locally)
Clueless buyers are getting expensive Samsung A15/16 or oppo devices with high price/low specs because they're easily fooled by marketing tricks on tv and billboards.

HMD is probably a company that launders money from drug trafficking (money laundering, money laundering) to make electronic equipment that will never be sold.
