All fine with me as long as there is a master toggle to switch off all personalized ads and all data collection.
Nothing is free what an understatement with these mobile and computer operating systems.
No reason for my calculator app to need audio, photos, and contacts to run.

Smartwatchguy, 08 Mar 2025That was the norm 30 years ago, nowadays young people openl... moreAgree on this and let me add some more
Young people:
a. - prefer speed and convenience over security
and
b. - do not understand the consequences that can and / or will happen down the line
which can harm their name, their reputation, and to an extent, their career.
They are either intentionally or unintentionally ill informed.
and / or
They do not listen to "and I can't believe I am saying this" adult advice until it's too late.
Then again, it's not just the young people who are vulnerable, some older generation (especially non tech savvy old generation) are also vulnerable, as they do not understand that speed and convenience have security concerns and consequences.

Unknown Artist, 08 Mar 2025Oh my gosh. Better clear search history everytimeyou clean it on your end, meaning browser, but what you search is on google servers no matter if you are logged in or in incognito mode or use VPN as your IP/WHID is assigned to search results anyway

Smartwatchguy, 08 Mar 2025That was the norm 30 years ago, nowadays young people openl... moreRemember when Youtube reminded everyone not to use their real name/info on the internet for your protection? Don't remember if that was the pre-google one or not but it's still funny.
Then Google+ facebook wannabe came and forced everyone to use real names for "meaningful" conversations. They even banned users who were reported by google fanboys as using fake names lol.

Next, google's gemini is gonna use their in-house "ads" as "sources and results".
You know, those scam ads and malware ads that google refuse to remove like hero wars and it's variations, crypto, pyramid scams, etc.

Yeah like I use search for question related to my friend or random things.
And I bet it end like with amazon search engine where you buy one shower curtain and for rest of the year it will spam you with question if you want to buy shower curtains...
Not to mention that gemini is still actually dumber than old google assistant this tell how google AI work...

Understand this: if you can access my search history, I'm NEVER gonna be searching with you for anything ever again.
