and the bootloader is still unlockable, you can still root Xiaomi devices, what are you on about? I literally sent this message from my rooted Xiaomi 14T.

I do have to admit unlocking bootloader on Xiaomi is more difficult these days, though. And MediaTek devices *do* support custom ROMs, but due to the kernel code fiasco you mentioned, there are not many high-quality custom ROMs (like Lineage) for MediaTek devices.

and you unlock a phone's bootloader and get a custom ROM on that because you want your phone to get better performance and serve you better, lol. Have you seen how many old devices are saved by the likes of LineageOS? Have you seen how GrapheneOS improves privacy? Also, you do see the bloat apps in the image for this article, right? who in their right mind would want the "Themes" app? or that "App Mall" thing?
If you really want to be stuck at the "use the phone to call your friends and relatives" point, maybe just buy a dumb phone at that point. And don't name-call people as "garbage" when they want more freedom for their devices.

Those will be DoA - will come too late and be too expensive. Meanwhile S25 and S25+ prices will be low enough to be the easier choice.. even now i can get a sealed s25 256gb for 630€ with receipt and warranty.. and in few months time....Xiaomi cant compete with that if they follow 14t/14t pro price policy

Unlock boo... moreWho cares about unlocking bootloader. Normal people don't mess with these things. This is only for people with no life who put their technology on a pedestal and have nothing better to live for.
Normal people buy phones as tools, so the phones can serve them in their lives with connecting with others. But people who serve the technology and care enough to waste their life to unlock bootloaders and garbage like that are sad people.
Just live the live, have friends, have real life hobbies like fishing, running, gym, don't waste your life being a servant or slave of some stupid device. Use the phone to call your friends and relatives.

I think the only people who should buy Xiaomi devices now are those who don't believe in user-freedom, and are willing to accept the devices "as is". No bootloader unlocking, no rooting, no custom ROMs. Xiaomi's free spirit is no more.

I will buy mediatek chipset phones if
- they will support unlock bootloading and allows custom ROM
Or else, I will still stick with snapdragon.
True, mediatek has better performance. But unlock bootloader and installing custom ROM is still not supported on mediatek phones. Even their super high-end chipset by so called dimensity 9400+.
What is the point of those highest benchmarks that is way better than let say snapdragon if they cannot support unlock bootloader and custom ROM. Plus, you need to pay them for kernel code stuff. Unlike snapdragon.

The Xiaomi 15T series won't be released in September.
Google just change the Android release, and the T will be released **BEFORE** Android 16 become a things.
So, my guess 15T gonna be released in end of july or early august.
And the Xiaomi 16, along with Android 16 will be released in September/October
..... a week or so after fruit announcement.

Baggin, 11 Mar 2025Precisely they use MTK in the T series because of its low p... morelow price and quality equal to SD, I somewhat agree. But "firmer NPU"??? I literally have never seen those things being useful at all. Would rather they do more for custom ROMs than adding such a useless thing, at least custom ROMs allow you to reduce bloat or use a different UI (HyperOS 2.1 feels awful, man...)
and why does Snapdragon need "MTK-equivalent" features???

Unlock boo... morewhile I agree with the custom ROM point (like, I have to pay Xiaomi.eu for a custom ROM port to my Xiaomi 14T, because they have to pay MediaTek for source code as well).... MediaTek bootloader unlocking is actually quite easy. Literally sent this comment from a rooted Xiaomi 14T. And you should not really judge stuff just via one viewpoint, it is narrow thinking.
then again, I'd rather take an imported OnePlus 13 or Ace 5 Pro than my 14T (or 14T Pro for that matter). OnePlus 13 imported from China literally costs just 600 USD in my country, and that also includes a charger, meanwhile my officially-bought Xiaomi 14T (plus 67W Xiaomi charger bought separately) costs roughly 570 USD.... not a good look at all.

Baggin, 11 Mar 2025Those dragon fans couldn't accept reality. Although re... moreyeah, no, MTK isn't above Qualcomm Snapdragon. It's only as good as Snapdragon at best, and that's all.
For example, MTK does not open-source their GPU drivers, so if you want to emulate console/PC games, you will never be able to get equal performance to Snapdragon.
MTK also doesn't open-source much else, so you cannot easily get custom ROMs that are as bug-free and smooth as Snapdragon devices, not unless you pay for the ROMs (ask Xiaomi.eu developers, they have to pay MediaTek money to get source code for their ROMs)
also, I don't know if my experience is the same as others, but my 14T (that I just bought last month) could only last a day on battery, with just roughly 3-5 hours of active time (light gaming, photography and such). Meanwhile, Snapdragon 8 Elite devices also last for just a day, albeit with far longer active use time, somewhere between 6 and 9 hours...

Precisely they use MTK in the T series because of its low price, quality equal to SD, and firmer NPU. And it's also to increase competition, because SD continues to monopolize the smartphone market, so I'm really glad xiaomi broke their monopoly by including MTK in the T series. And if you use SD, you won't get MTK equivalent features and performance at that price.

I think the only problem that the 15T series don't use snapdragon is that it will be too similar to the 15 series which are the flashship.
