At least it has Sense UI, at least that’s what it looks like when I see the clock. Just like on my HTC One M9 😔

What’s with these Taiwanese coming out f... moreODMs took advantage of these dead brands though, so no surprise here. you may see acer producing phones, when it's not actually produced by acer themselves. even if some brands quit the smartphone market there may be another foreign models.
in the future, you'd see gigabyte re-entering the phone market. or maybe a dell.

heard that it will launch in Thailand too. Not sure how successful it will be given that we haven't had anything from HTC in a long while and most people have probably forgotten about the brand.

PureOS, 12 Mar 2025Why? They trying but they can't compete anymore. They ... moreI don't think they can survive with this kind of phone in Indonesia. Transsion is pretty much dominating the entry level market here. Even Xiaomi with their "good enough" entry level got beaten, let alone whatever is this. If they want to enter a new emerged market, make sure to make something new that's not available on that pricing. (I mean, there's a reason why the "new" Moto G45 sold pretty well here). This is just another device with boring spec and T606.

X User, 12 Mar 2025As mentioned in the article, this phone is done by an ODM, ... moreAs far as I can remember, HTC U Series since 2018 (after Google purchased HTC's Team) is the sole and remaining HTC smartphone device that is at least developed and designed mostly if not fully by HTC, and U series since 2017 is HTC flagship series (or could also interpret as its higher offering as its status now felt more like an upper midrange than full flagship since 2020). Only the Desire and Wildfire series that are fully ODM-design since HTC was bought by Google in 2017 starting with Google Pixel 2. So, if U25/Pro come this year, that will be the sole device that HTC really developed.

            HTC jumpscare

PureOS, 12 Mar 2025Why? They trying but they can't compete anymore. They ... moreGoing to entry level market on a commodity like a smartphone is suicide. You cannot compete on entry level with the Chinese. They will beat you out with their ultra low cost. This segment will pick a cheaper phone even if it's only $10 less than yours.

Once again the cycle repeats itself. HTC announces a fairly decent mid-ranger, everyone goes insane, then they proceed to announce like 2 ODM budget phones and everyone curses their name. Never fails to amuse me.

Can't wait for the U25 Pro!

It's sad to see a once great brand releasing such rubbish. Either get back into the market with something decent or quit altogether.

Quality might be an issue as it is just carrying HTC branding. I agree old HTC phones are great and I would love to see them at least come out with a mid-ranger and not an entry level.

Xiaomi's rise to fame was a true "Flagship" killer with the first Xiaomi phone at a great price, so it is a bit different. Later on, Xiaomi came out with Redmi for the budget market, so it is different overall and cannot be taken as the same.

                      Who?

DomtheCuber, 12 Mar 2025At this point HTC deserves to dieWhy? They trying but they can't compete anymore. They should focus on big markets like India, Vietnam, Indonesia etc, with great phones for low price, something like how Xiaomi start their rise. When they get many customers, things will change. I had once experience with their phone and it was great.

Acer, and now HTC. What’s with these Taiwanese coming out from the dead with e-waste? Are they trying to launder money or something?
