I'm having a hard time calling reasonably priced to a system that you can't control, that's remotely lockable without the option to permanently disable this "security", that works against you at every level, that's dictates you when you do stuff like updates and requires you to be online at all the time or your apps get "damaged," that is designed not to be upgraded, that has a cellphone chip — those we put on cellphones because they used less energy but more importantly: because they were much cheaper — and that's basically meant to be disposable.
The high end MacBook Pro that was with me when my SUV rolled over making it look like as flat as a fried potato chip (not very), yet it still worked and you could swap the battery while it was powered on…that was reasonably priced and it was nowhere near this ridiculous prices.
I know, I know, today's devices are much faster and blahblah, correct. It's relative. The limits then vs the limits now, regardless of how big of a difference, they have been expected in some form, but the margin is way too high, especially since tech is supposed to get cheaper. It's the one thing that does.
