Anonymous, 19 Mar 2025Note that a Fit3 has a closed OS that does not allow for th... moreI just can't justify an extra $150 for what will be, to me, the same features. I did make an error in my original comment, the Fit3 doesn't have NFC either, but since I'll always have my phone on me and the price is a lot cheaper I can live with that. That goes for other apps and watch faces too; I don't really need more than what's already on the Fit3. I can deal with charging once a week; it's the charging once-a-day that has turned me off from all other smartwatches.
The one and only thing that has me still leaning to the new Pebbles is the display. My old Fitbit was really hard to see in direct sunlight. But that, on its own, isn't enough for me to choose the $225 device when a perfectly-acceptable $60 option exists.
On his blog, Eric notes that you shouldn't get a Pebble if you want a polished device. "Things will get delayed. Some features will not be ready at launch. Things could break. Things could not last as long as you’d like." While I enjoy tinkering, I just can't justify one of these right now.
I'm glad the OS is open-source and I'm happy for the Pebble fans who have been dying for a new device. I'll just be rooting for you from the sidelines, but rooting for you nonetheless.

If nobody wants to pay for things they like and be enthusiastic, our economy would be on the knees.
And what does it matter to you what he wants to buy. It doesn't is your problem. You can buy whatever you want (or not buying). And everyone else buys what they want. Period.

SlyAceZeta, 18 Mar 2025I *was* excited, but the high price (though understandable ... moreNote that a Fit3 has a closed OS that does not allow for third-party apps or additional watchfaces and that its battery lasts between 7 days if you turn everything off, to 2-3 days using every feature. The Core watches will last 30 days because of the lightweight OS and efficient screen. You're also relegated to the touchscreen for most things, while the Core can be exclusively handled with buttons, without covering and smudging the screen.
The fit3 is more of a fitness tracker that can do some smartwatch things, the Core is an actual smartwatch that happens to use buttons, an e-paper display and a light-weight, joyful, open-source OS. If you are happy with what the fit3 offers, I cannot deny the price proposition though (I nearly bought it before they announced the return of Pebble).

If you want to buy dinosaur tech, this is it. Current tech is much better than this out-of-date looking crap.

1. I loved my old pebble. And i have agree with eric, nothing in current market ticks all the boxes. The Amazefit Bip is close but not quite.
2. The price for this new one is quite steep
3. Are they asking to be sued by Intel with Core 2 Duo name sake ? Are they fishing for free publicity ?

Pebble just left us high and dry as they stopped support of their OS. As we upgraded our phones we were not able to reinstall faces and features. My 3 watches which I loved, are rotting in my drawer.

DarlingYext, 18 Mar 2025They look oddly old, like something from 2012.Even better. I'm tired with nowadays market that fulls of thin-bezel and WearOS smartwatches. Something like this gives me some fresh air for some reason.
