It's a clamshell with a hinge on the side.

galaxyS15, 21 Mar 2025Imagine all your normal usage will be done in the cover scr... more3.5" cover screen is only ok for checking notifications, skipping the next song and quick tasks just like in most flip phones.however, you have to use the inner display for mail, navigation, whatsapp, internet browsing, social media, banking, uber etc and it is not possible to hold and navigate a vertical screen wider than 78mm with one hand.

If you want to use this horizontally, it is marginally narrower than even the small iphone. So,you end up with a tiny video with huge black bars on top and bottom.
That is totally a useless form factor.

P10Geezer, 21 Mar 2025Does this allow sideloading APKs? What base AOSP does it have?It uses HarmonyOS 5 which is not based on Android, however there is a third party android emulator app which can help you install some android apps

Lister , 21 Mar 2025Too small for a tablet, too big for a phone. What are you on about ? It's not even a tablet when unfolded and i dont think it was meant to be like that too. And for a phone it be still compact as heck with 143mm tall. Xiaomi 15 with 6.36 inch screen is something 153mm tall. Samsung S25 is 147mm tall with just 6.2 inch.

Having it 90mm wide is maybe the issue that one handed unfolded be hard to use but i would think that more space for keyboard make typing with 2 hands a lot easier

I pretty much like the formfactor.
I would never buy a Z Flip because of its dimensions or any other flip-style phone, but this one here might be it, if it comes to europe

I will never buy a foldable, but I think other manufacturers should copy this design.

In fact, you can use Nokia phone with sailfish and use browser to access Google youtube and Google maps too.

                              But talking about non-Google ecosystem.
I don't understand why we must use android.

P10Geezer, 21 Mar 2025Does this allow sideloading APKs? What base AOSP does it have? There is no AOSP or Android. It's Harmony OS Next. But GBox works so you can use whatever Android apps you want.

While it's pretty expensive but it's cheaper than i thought. Mate X was $3500, i expected it to be around $2000 but $1100 is fair enough for first gen device. Would be cool if Honor could launch something similar with Android under $1000
