I think I want one that can run 64-bit Windows & dual-boot Android.
Then, the only thing I worry about it the exposed screen edge, when folded in a pocket or dropped.
Bluetooth mouse + keyboard. USB C charging, display out. Seems like the successor to the Note.
Preferably from a Chinese company, with US compatibility bands, and compatibility with Nova Launcher. Because screen repair should be cheaper & easier to DIY (assuming it has enough sales to get shops on AE to stock & sell replacements).
And A+ camera, like whatever's on the x100, or whatever the best camera is.
And stylus, sheathed in a case if necessary for packaging.

I am so frustrated that with flip style foldables prices have come down but with big book style foldables prices are just so high still(of course buying one or two year old phone is pretty cheap but still).
I am waiting for rollable phones which should cost less than book style foldables(because only one screen instead of 2).

As innovative as a propaganda tool that wowed the gullible "tech" community who couldn't even afford one. Meanwhile, even Chinese people laughed at and ridiculed this phone.

Zhang Yi, 30 Mar 2025I genuinely believe that foldable phones have massive marke... moreThe technology is cool but cost is too high. Until a foldable can undercut the price of a phone + tablet it's very hard for it to take off as it just doesn't make economic sense.
People are already complaining about 1k flagships. to say it is fair for it to cost 2-5k is completely tone deaf.
Foldables will take off when the technology can be had for around 500 bucks otherwise it'll forever remain a gimmick.

"Huawei itself is a problem too", "Huawei probably isn't it". I hate when news outlets try to put ideas in people instead of reporting what they actually said.

i am select/vote cheaper: because sales&price is fake & global as post-season sale + cpu&hardware need better for curent-price + for current price need better screen (as 4k) and video8k + for notebook-mode need wearing case (and/because camera under bottom) = i am wait at global version without this moment and (degoogled) harmony-next (with microg and etc as /e/os) be plus for 300gr device

Id buy one if they were like 500$, more than that just to have those foldable screens get broken after a year or so is a bit too much

Tee, 30 Mar 2025I beg to differ. Having owned this phone for a month now, I... moreZ Fold sold 2.1+ million folds in 2024.
Mate XT likely sold under 500k. Not bad for a $2800 device, but far lower then expectations.

it's good for showing off tech, but not for daily usage as a phone.

About the poll:
There is massive difference between "I want one" and "I am paying right now/I have bought one"
A lot of people will say they want a private jet...

I beg to differ. Having owned this phone for a month now, I can tell you that everything works from Google services to Android auto to Play Store. You just need to set it up once and that is all. I am surprised why reviewers are still citing this as a demerit when it isn't. Photo quality and battery life is brilliant. Design is brilliant. They have really figured out how to optimise the Kirin chipset for improved performance, showcasing how you don't need the latest chipsets for improved performance. Compared to the Galaxy Fold series, the Mate XT is a major GO!

I genuinely believe that foldable phones have massive market potential. Over the past few years, we’ve seen incredible advancements in foldable technology, making these devices more durable and practical. But there’s still a major issue screen creasing. Most foldable phones start showing noticeable crease marks after about a year of use, even though manufacturers claim their displays can last up to three years without significant wear. The real problem? Repairs for foldable screens are extremely expensive, and as the technology stands today, it's a huge drawback for long-term users.
That being said, I truly think foldable phones have the potential to completely replace tablets in the future. If the technology evolves to the point where foldable tablets become mainstream, we could see a major shift towards more sustainable, multi-functional devices. This would not only reduce electronic waste but also provide users with a single, adaptable device that can switch between a compact phone and a large-screen experience seamlessly.
Another critical issue is battery life. Foldables need significantly larger batteries—ideally between 10,000 and 20,000 mAh while still maintaining a slim and lightweight design. With current battery technology, most foldables struggle to last an entire day with heavy use, and that’s a major limitation. If manufacturers can innovate in battery efficiency and design ultra-thin, high-capacity batteries, foldables will become even more practical for everyday use.
From a pricing standpoint, I think it’s fair to expect high-end foldables to range between $2,000 and $5,000, given their versatility and cutting-edge technology. By the 2030s or 2040s, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see foldables with ultra-thin designs, 360-degree hinges, and even holographic displays. Of course, advanced technology like this comes at a premium, but as the market grows and production scales up, costs will naturally stabilize over time.
Ultimately, I’m convinced that by 2030, most people will move away from traditional single-screen smartphones in favor of foldables. With improvements in display durability, battery efficiency, and AI-driven quantum technology, foldable phones will not just be an alternative they’ll be the future of mobile devices

People who see foldables as gimmicks are mostly iPhone users. Sour grapes and all. But they'll change their tune when Apple releases their first foldable.
