                  The Snapdragon X Elite 2nd Gen will launch in 2 months and THAT will have significant gains close to efficiency of Apple Silicon's M4 and M4 Pro but more significant GPU gains ... slightly less than NPU and memory bandwidth of the M4 Pro.

                        kevriveroc, 31 Mar 2025Qualcomm's naming scheme has become way too confusing ... moreFor now, it kinda goes like (Smartphone) Snapdragon 4s>4>6s>6>7s>7>8s>8 Elite. And for each generation, it's Gen 1 , Gen 2, Gen 3 etc. The flagship Snapdragon 8 was replaced by 8 Elite. There are a few oddballs here and there, like the 7+ Gen 3, which is basically an improved 7 Gen 3.

                        And for notebooks, it's Snapdragon X>X Plus>X Elite, which replaced the previous 8cx. It is confusing I know, but nowhere near as confusing as Intel and AMD mobile chips naming lol

                          Such a shame that Oryon isn't coming to midrange. 8s gen 3 launched with the latest cores so even if it had the CPU performance comparable to 8 Gen 2 it had the efficiency of the latest chip. Don't care about GPU performance at all. You can reduce graphics settings. Who even cares about graphics on a smartphone.

                            Qualcomm's naming scheme has become way too confusing for non-tech-savvy people to understand.

                                Nothing Phone (3) is getting this SoC instead of the 8 Elite for cost cutting reasons. I could be wrong, but we'll see.
