Firstly this doesn't... moreThere's something called Value Addition %, which indicated the amount of locally sourced and developed components sourced by the OEM. In India this is about 20% and in China it's about 40-45%. So Apple assembling smartphone in India might not lead to millions of jobs but sourcing these components from other vendors in India will lead to those jobs eventually. Considering India started manufacturing Apple products just 2 years ago and we are already at 20% in value edition, I am very confident that within next 2- 3 years we will have very comparable value addition to our Chinese counterparts.

Nothing to be proud of for India. Firstly this doesn't create any good jobs for the locals, just casual labour. Secondly, the price of iPhones for the domestic customer still remains higher than the price in the US. It is still better quality wise and cheaper for us to get an iphone via some relative abroad than to buy directly in India.

It’s just their labor skills were unmatched, and companies were too lazy to find alternatives since many of the parts needed were made in China as well, thus logistics is easier to have the assembling within the same country. But then Covid happened, and China’s shutdown was a wake up call for everyone.
But why is this a bad thing? It’s the same thing with Japan, Taiwan, and Singapore decades ago. They were manufacturing countries as well. Everything was made in Taiwan back in the 90s.

Read history if you don't believe.
Unfortunately, the super power kingdom will slowly lose its power as he will not produce his own sword but rely on others to fight fight fight.
While the other kingdoms will learn to build best sword.
In distant future the super kingdom will meet defeat.
Destiny is desgined by destruction!!

It's quite ironic to see people praising Apple staying away from India when China literally just recently made a massive partnership with China for rare metals, oil and exporting goods.
The only sole reason why India is chosen for production is because China is rising prices due to USA's tarifs.Apple aren't the good guys here, they just choose the cheaper option.
Yes fellow indians, you are the cheaper labor force chosen by Apple.

This is not a win for Apple. The same reason they thought for China will be the reason for India too, just wait for few years. Plus the innovation cannot match in India as in China, it's generations behind. I am not fan of China too, but shifting from China to India is not good in any way. You will know this in few years. You also can't guarantee the physical assets in India.
