Crisanto Jimenez, 05 Apr 2025Nvidia claims that the switch 2 GPU is 10x more powerful th... moreNVIDIA may mean the actual performance improvement. TFLOPS is just the theoretical peak performance. In reality, games don't use only floating-point operations. They also use integer operations, so TFLOPS is never fully utilized in actual games. They are for synthetic benchmarks. Also, TFLOPS isn't the only thing that dictates the actual performance. A device with lower TFLOPS can outperform a device with higher TFLOPS. The Nintendo Switch 2 outperforms the Xbox Series S in Street Fighter 6, even though the Xbox Series S has higher TFLOPS.

BJR, 05 Apr 2025Thank goodness they kept LCD, OLED can kick rocks. Any reason? I like OLED myself but I've heard it's a much better LCD than before so I'm not worried about it either.

xPandamon, 05 Apr 2025Pretty sure you have really them, because the code would be... moreI doubt that it will be locked to your Nintendo account because if that is the case, it should be a box with a download code. The fact that it's a game card suggests that you can use it on any Nintendo Switch 2 console, but it contains no game data, so you have to download the game, and the game-key card only acts as a key that is required in order to play the game. Either way, prices aside, these game-key cards aren't worse than digital-only games.

Also, Yakuza 0 runs in 4K at 60 fps on the Nintendo Switch 2. It runs in 1080p60 on the PS4 and runs in 1440p at 60 fps on the Xbox One X. It's a lightweight game, but it shows the difference in actual performance. 4K at 60 fps is 4 times of 1080p60. Not all TFLOPS are equal.

xPandamon, 05 Apr 2025I was talking about them going against roms and such, even ... moreI believe that you refer to game-key cards which act as keys but contains no game data. I will probably never buy this type of physical copies. However, if the prices are the same as those of the digital versions, they are better than digital versions because if you buy them, you get boxes, and you can resell them. Buying digital versions when they are heavily discounted is much more sensible, though. However, there are many games that have no physical releases, so even if there are no game-key cards, when the server is offline, you won't be able to access these games from the official server. For games that focus on online multiplayer or games that are planned to be updated periodically for an extended period of time, this is justified, but it's ridiculous for single-player games.

Anonymous, 04 Apr 2025It's perfectly fine if you use unofficial emulators to... moreI was talking about them going against roms and such, even against websites that specifically attempt to preserve past games. Nintendo have sure and attached plenty of websites that realistically, they had no right to go against. Unfortunately the cost of fighting is too much for many. Also yes and no, Nintendo seemingly will also sell some physical games that come with their digital cartridges, so if the servers are shut off, those games are straight up impossible to play again. They really fumbled the bag here and I am so glad people do take offense with it.

Whereas the Swi... moreWell, Nintendo is kinda always releasing very outdated/underperforming hardware, compared to other platforms and at the same time stealing their market share like a predator. Partially because they always offer some new type of user input, partially because they ported all games released in past 10 years...
I'm in no way defending them, neither like the concept of their games, but if you are after mobile+couch gaming.. I don't think you have alternatives. Besides now you can play on Switch pretty much everything what is available on any platform ..
Steam Deck is an option, but it has quite few limitations on it's own...
Mobile phones and tablets are just... well, they work..kind of.. eventually..for a while.. somehow...
you won't get the game immersion and experience, which console player will.
Switch 2 announcement has something interesting - mouse input. Obviously any console could move a pointer on the screen so i guess Nintendo has prepared something more interesting and useful than that.. and if I'm correct, we will witness mouse -specific games coming to consoles 1:1.. like mmorpgs and probably..why not even LoL?... Would be nice.. I'm sure Sony will follow asap on that one, else they will struggle not only with ps5pro, but selling ps6 as well.

According to GSMArena, the model with 256 GB of storage and 8 GB of RAM is $419 on Amazon.com. Obviously, the Poco X7 Pro doesn't come with a wireless game controller and a dock with active cooling. The screen is much smaller than the screen of the Nintendo Switch 2 and doesn't seem to support VRR. It doesn't have a microSD card slot. The Nintendo Switch 2 has much more RAM. The CPU is much more powerful than that of the Nintendo Switch 2, but that's it. The Nintendo Switch 2 GPU is significantly more powerful than the Mali-G720 MC7, and it supports DLSS.
For games, the GPU performance is much more important than the CPU performance. Most demanding games are GPU intensive, not CPU intensive. Also, efficiency is very important in handheld mode. The Cortex-A78C provides a good balance of performance and efficiency.

Whereas the Switch 2 CPU is a long in the tooth processor in lower end redmi. Even stuff like the Poco X7 pro wipes the floor with the switch 2 and that's around 300 bucks.

Anonymous, 04 Apr 2025The screen of the Nintendo Switch 2 supports VRR. This mean... moreUnderstood, but I still find refresh rate almost useless in games except e-sports, and that doesn't really relate to most people (or even to Switch 2). I will rather take higher fps and don't even bother about framerate.

Snapdragon 695 hater, 04 Apr 2025The real problem here is that Nintendo games never drop in ... moreFirst-party Nintendo Switch games are discounted occasionally. Anyway, the Joy-Con 2 controllers are bigger than the Joy-Con controllers. You can try using them first. If they aren't good enough for you, you can buy a Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller. As for a microSD Express card, I think that you should wait until the storage is almost full before buying one. Now microSD Express cards are new and pricey. The prices will definitely drop in the future.

This means that if a game runs at 60 fps, the screen will adjust the refresh rate to 60 Hz to match the frame rate. The screen won't run at 120 Hz if the frame rate is lower than 120 fps. Metroid Prime 4 Beyond Nintendo Switch 2 Edition can run in 720p at 120 fps in handheld mode, so it's a given that most indie games will be able to run in 720p at 120 fps in handheld mode. It's up to the developers if they want to provide the option.

Anonymous, 04 Apr 2025Your post is confusing. If a game runs at 120 fps and the s... moreIf your screen is set to 120 Hz, the game won't run in 120 fps, the framerate depends on the game and how you change its settings (if the game allows this). Most mobile games run at 30 fps by default, so running your screen at 120 Hz is a waste. In some games, you can change fps to 45, 60 and in rare cases to even more. How many games on Switch 2 will run at 120 frames? Probably just a select few thanks to heavy optimization.
So I would still rather choose OLED with 60 Hz than LCD at 120 Hz. Thankfully I don't have to pick either.
