Apple is apparently still working on solid-state haptic buttons for iPhones

03 April 2025
Long rumored for the iPhone 15 Pro, then the iPhone 16 Pro, these are still vaporware at the moment.

Come on, Apple, please shown us some real innovation or invention, instead of focusing on haptic button or titanium frame, and then use these dispensable technology to squeeze their supporters money for each year new phone launching. I see nothing "wow" effect or great innovation from Apple for many years already. either Apple engineers are incapables or lack of ideas compare to competitors.

Of course you can buy and use whatever you want ;) but that doesn't mean we won't have a laugh or two in the process ;)

The term iSheep was invented ever since those queues of people with tents and sleeping bags, lining up in front of Apple stores 4 days prior launch of a new iPhone.
And those were praising the most innovative devices in mankind history - rectangular phone with round corners, no buttons, no cables, nothing. Same those are preaching now how buttons and cables are most innovative thing by Apple. Guess what's coming back next -hint..home button ;)

So sorry mate, no offense, but we all have the right to laugh hard on others brilliant phrases and expressions. No bad feelings ;)

Well no one mentions that all cases will have to have a cutout so those buttons are exposed to touch and of course you won't be able to use them with a glove.

I agree with the first part but not the second.
IOS is as vulnerable as android.

Real buttons just feel better, plain and simple. Remember hope the home button sucked on the iPhone 7 and 8? Apple is forgetting that they still sell devices instead of visions of the future. And speaking of Visions, let's see how sales of that are doing...

I would also like to be able to control the volume of my music with you know the VOLUME BUTTONS, because that's why they are there.

What ... moreObviously because buttons are useful, if your answer is 'just use the screen' then why even have buttons lol. I thought you like features but here you are arguing against them. Why do you want to not be able to:
                            Detect swipes
                            Detect how hard you press
                            Detect taps
                            Detect combinations of the above
Vary button feedback for different actions
Disable button feedback when button does nothing
                            Mute buttons
Configure button volume and feedback in settings
                            Configure button sensitivity in settings

I've replaced buttons on two phones, redmi and iphone. Unbreakable buttons, simplified phone repairs, and improved water resistance are just a few things you get for free

What phones have you been using that the buttons broke, and why would I want buttons to do swipes, when displays do that just fine?

I'm not a sheep - I just know what I need and Android doesn't fit the bill for me. The fact that iOS apps and the OS itself are generally consistent and well-designed is a bonus, as is Apple's security stance. I don't buy their products for 'fashion' or to look 'cool'. I buy them as they work for me. Saying others are "sheep" because you disagree with the company and its choices is just wrong. Respect is earned - partly through tolerance of others. Something sadly lacking in life for most people.

I don't know the technical implementation of capacitive buttons but if it's part of the frame and happen to fail, what does that entail for repairing it? Hope you don't need to replace a whole frame.

They should've tried the pressure sensitive buttons on a phone that didn't matter, not on their flagship.

What challenge? Nearly every phone is water resistant and they all have physical buttons, even including foldables.

As for the buttons coming off, no they won't, we aren't talking about S25 Ultra camera rings.
