..no problem. Maybe its different for xcover/phones. The onlh time it loses power is when i accidentally unplug the usb power when the battery is not in. 😁

While it is nice to have the option of replacing the battery when empty, in my almost three years with the XCover6 Pro I have never done that. The phone has no hot-swap function, so you have to power it down, switch battery and reboot - it is almost always easier to just plug in a little power bank instead. With the pogo pins and the Koamtac external battery pack there is also the option of doubling the battery capacity.

The practical usefulness of the replaceable battery is that you can use the phone hard without concern for battery longevity (e.g. run it down to zero, or recharge all the time), and then after a year when the battery is worn out you just replace it in a few seconds, no sending in to Samsung service, no loss of uptime.

I faintly hope the battery is a Si/C version of the same battery form factor used in the past few XCover phones (Pro, 5, 6 Pro, 7), which all had interchangeable batteries. That way the new larger battery would be useful to the older phones, and the Xcover7 Pro could use some of the third-party accessories already available. Doubtful though...

        2. They could have made a removable battery with bigger capacity with that Si/C battery. But hey, this is Samsung, it won't happen after all.

The lower battery capacity IS a non-issue, no matter how much you cry about it.

When I first heard about 6GB RAM two weaks ago, I immediately stopped waiting for new XCover and bought S25 instead.
I'd rather be more careful with S25 (regarding MIL-STD-810H) than having low spec phone.

It is just barely "ok" today, that is budget device level, and the average today is above 8GB. If we can expect Samsung's release cycle to continue, the XCover8 Pro after this new one will be around 2028. It would be awkward to scrape along with 6GB in 2027ish, as by then this will likely be well below minimum requirements expected in the overall Android ecosystem. Hard to see how Samsung could make their usual 5-year-upgrades promises for a phone that limited today.

DarlingYext, 03 Apr 2025Small battery, and not enough RAM. Very disappointing.I'm not worried about the small battery since it is fully removable. The RAM count is what worries me more since business and enterprise customers don't always change their hardware every year.

I'm hoping the 6GB RAM from Geekbench are some reporting error or that there are versions with more. The XCover6 Pro from 2022 was a substantial upgrade over the older XCover Pro, with 50% more RAM and adding DeX and 5G. If the XCover7 Pro now turns out to be just a minor facelift to the three year old XCover6 Pro, that would be disappointing indeed, even if in practice it is probably sufficient for the intended buyers (as the XCover6 Pro still is, to be honest).

I'm still hoping the Xcover7 Pro has an 8GB option so it's not a step down from my current phone. If it really stays at 6GB, I guess I'll finally be getting a ROG Phone.
