Zakalwe, 07 Apr 2025I doubt it, never read anything like that. The Sony Xperia ... moreOh yes, thanks for the heads up. As Sony mobiles are not available in my country, I often forget this, sadly. True, money being the reason.
I've been keeping cards since ages and I just shift them to another phone when I upgrade. Simply the fastest way to change phones. SMS'es I discard. Contacts I save offline, everything else works smooth.
Right now I'm on LG G8x, until a suitable upgrade is found. I wish they just add a microSD slot to the 1TB version, this way atleast I just shift the card like I always do, and their money reason is satisfied too.

Sam N8 808 owner, 07 Apr 2025Does Qualcomm or the industry have certain fixed rules, tha... moreI doubt it, never read anything like that. The Sony Xperia 1 VI has a microSD slot and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
No, I think this is just the phone manufacturers who like to upcharge on higher builtin storage tiers. They have seen that they can get away with it in the flagships because they are FLAGSHIPS and lots of people don't buy them rationally, the want the latest and bestest, no matter the cost (also, phone plans can make the price more palatable).
With mid-range and budget phones people are more conscious of what they get for the money. With enterprise oriented phones this holds true as well, albeit with different feature priorities maybe.

Does Qualcomm or the industry have certain fixed rules, that they will not offer a microSD slot to phones above a certain chipset (peformance-wise), like Snapdragon 7 Gen 3?
I mean, is it in written?
Because oddly, not a single phone above this level comes with microSD.
And now Samsung will gladly push this Xcover lineup, but not give a card slot in a decent performer, as if they're forced to do so.. (?)

exp1orer, 06 Apr 2025For that price, XCover6 Pro (almost the same spec as XCover... moreQuite. Those Geekbench results show just a 20% improvement from XCover 6 Pro to 7 Pro, over three years. Over the same time the S25 more than doubles the scores of the S22. I really hope the leaks are not accurate.
As it stands it would not surprise me if the XCover7 Pro didn't get DeX, as it is hard to see how Samsung could maintain it with reasonable performance over their typical 5 years of upgrades.

If it has a FM Radio it sold to me a Million times over . It's all I want in a Phone !
well that & obviously a headphone port & Stereo speakers & memory card .
No internet data using radio cap wanted ! But in the U.K. models they don't include F.M. Radio chip , as they think there is perfect Internet in every square inch of the country !

For that price, XCover6 Pro (almost the same spec as XCover7 Pro) seems a better option.

Anonymous, 05 Apr 2025The XCover6 Pro struggled with Samsung Dex due to its 6gb ram.DeX works perfectly fine on the XCover6 Pro as long as one does not expect to run a dozen apps in parallel. That being said, the new XCover7 Pro seems to offer barely any upgrade over its three year old predecessor, which would be quite disappointing. I hope the leaks are inaccurate, or that there will be more capable variants not leaked yet.

Anonymous, 05 Apr 2025Even 8gb of ram would reload a browser that is sent to the ... moreOn my old 3GB Nexus 6, I could consistently keep two games alive in memory. 8GB is laptop-class and there should be no excuse to EVER unload (just as Windows never unloads), and yet keeping two games alive overnight is sometimes a gamble on my 8GB Razer 1 (Android 9), depending on which app I last used before bed, and how long it's been since I rebooted. At some point Android got too trigger-happy about unloading apps.
So unfortunately, there's no way I'm stepping down from 8GB to 6GB if I can help it, even though I love the Xcover's hardware features in concept. (Also, I think people were saying the 7s Gen 3 sucks? Whereas the 6 Pro's 778G was good.) I may step up to a ROG Phone instead, even though it's overkill for me and the 8th gen marred some of its signature features.

Pedzio, 05 Apr 2025Yeah, the intended target can enjoy this phone for longer a... moreLag is feature for these kind of devices, most of time they want specs good enough to only run Company app, they don't want workers to play games or browsing much, browser is just there for backup if app fail.
If those companies needed more ram Samsung would just use that chance to charge more, like 6GB ram $500, 8GB $600, 12GB $700 etc like they did in other devices like 10FE.
