Oppo Find X8 Ultra announced with improved dual 50MP periscope cameras

jiyen235, 10 Apr 2025why a GNJ?Same size, DPAF instead of QPAF (allows for better crop from centre), much less noise and better colour accuracy due to Front Deep Trench Isolation, etc. It's currently the best 1/1.56"-type sensor on the market, and it would work much better on a telephoto compared to the LYT-700, which has QPAF.

Boring, bland and uninspiring. Don't think it'd be nice to hold either. That's what people seem to like tho so companies gotta follow suit.

            dual 50 mp periscope doesnt sound that cool cus that was the headline for the find x7 ultra as well. Guess it's to take your attention away from the downgrade 🤫🤫🤫

            And the downgrading of the UW cam is crazy. From 1/1.56" in the find x3/x5/x6 pro, to 1/1.95" in the find x7 ultra and now 1/2.75". What's next, 1/3.94"? LOL. The fact that it's less wider than the previous phone adds insult to injury. And the selfie cam aint really the best tbh but hey at least it's got autofocus and is super wide.

            At least the updates to the zoom lenses seem more promising. Really impressive what they did with the 3x, increase in zoom with wider aperture. Double win.

            I still do think the X200 Ultra is going to be the better cameraphone but this seems to be better for more people. Thinner and flat, as people seem to like nowadays. I highly doubt it'd be that comfy to hold though. The flat screen is quite pretty to look at though, the bezels are ultra thin.

            This is the Ultra for the masses. The X200 Ultra is going down the Xiaomi route of being more niche.

                        I love the upgrades (Scamsung take notes please because this is what an upgrade looks like), but I don't like the sensor size downgrade for the ultrawide, even if the JN5 is actually a better sensor than the LYT-600. They could've put a better sensor like the Samsung ISOCELL GN8 for the ultrawide instead.

                        Also a missed opportunity to not use a JN5 sensor for the selfie and a GNJ sensor for the 3× telephoto. Both are the same size as the sensors currently used here, but are measurably better.

                            Decent upgrade on the Oppo Find x7 ultra. Big upgrade to the 6x telephoto. They claim 251% improvement in light intake. A nice aperture bump on the 3x too. It's easily the best 3x hardware available at the moment. Nice bump in battery capacity too. Price has increased a little too though for the base model. It's the same price now as the Xiaomi 15 ultra (last year OPPO was cheaper). Delighted to see the flat screen. Others will follow next year with flat screen ultras

                              Rightt..this phone is amazing and I don't.even like OPPO brand that much. That matte black and the calculative specs on the light science in the camera is very nice

                                The camera spec sheet looks mighty impressive. I don't mind the ultrawide downgrade given the upgrades in telephoto, but would have been great if it retained the predecessor's ultrawide.

                                Also like the shift to a flat display.

                                  The best camera phone of the year has been announced!

                                    Glad that they made efforts to improve low light camera performance on the telephoto lens, especially the 6x periscope with a larger sensor and a wider aperture (arguably it's the one that needed the most upgrade from the X7 ultra)

                                      As a whole, it looks significantly more boring that in its predecessor. Big downgrade in design, tbh.

                                        That matte black makes me feel things
