On Samsung phones there is such an charging bypass option in the game booster plus settings.

I guess an even better option would be to be able to sort of "physically" disconnect the battery when a charger is plugged in, a so called "battery bypass mode". Sadly, there are very very few devices with this option and certainly zero smartphones.

Meanwhile Android lovers' all favourite Google Pixel doesn't have anything.

Artem S. Tashkinov, 13 Apr 2025What's the point of charging your phone to up to 40%? ... moreIf you are in a profession where you have your phone connected for longer periods, like a taxi driver, a truck driver, etc. Or if you just want to run your phone as a server of some kind, you want to keep it at around 40-50%. From my understanding, the most optimal charge for a battery for storage is 40-50%.

Ideally it works by charging up to 40%, then disconnects the battery and uses the charging power source.

There are valid use cases for that charging limit, not just for storage, but for day-to-day usage too.

If you say to have it shelved, well, one in a million needs this option and you can trivially discharge it to the desired capacity instead of offering borderline insane options.

That's freaking amazing, I wish they had a 75% option.

Now this is the thing that I have wanted so long! I always wanted to set my own charging limit. Great job, OP. Other companies should follow this. This feature is very helpful.

Shouldn’t a “smart”phone be smart enough to variably adjust its own charging limit?

A very strange charging limit range. It should have been from 40% to 90, in the increments of 5.
