AntonelPAPI, 15 Apr 2025Now, Apple has a better reputation than Samsung 😁😁Yes, Samsung spoiling its own reputation by its pathetic pricing.

My 2 cents... Isn't it just the result of upcoming tariff policy that enjoined Apple to anticipate shipment for the next months?

Main reason for increase in Apple's shipment is pathetic pricing policy of Samsung phones.
Samsung's S25 series and A series are too expensive for their specs

In what multiverse did Samsung have a better reputation than Apple?

If Apple launched the 16e at 500$ I would understand it but at 600$ it's a really bad deal and I don't understand why people are buying into it. I'm really not saying this to hate on Apple as I simply think iPhone 15 Pro and many other iPhones still on sale are much better deals.

potato4k, 15 Apr 2025A good branding makes buying decision easier for consumers.... moreActually, yes. Whole reason I keep buying my T-shirt from a specific brand, cause they offer high quality fabric at affordable prices and been doing so over a decade and have kept that even with inflation hitting. Their prices are not what used to be , but are still modest and they deliver value.
Branding without quality or a value behind is just a marketing.
Branding with quality and value is a reputation.
Reputation is, what matters.

Chinese flagships, which are actually at the forefront of innovation are gaming devices which don't perform well, most of their ultras, despite the hype (in some markets), are incremental upgrades from the previous year's entry. They have good hardware not made by them.

He was everywhere when iPhone sales started flagging and helped to bolster sales. He made many visits to China when Apple was losing ground there. You don't see any of that from Samsung leadership.

Pricing almost doesn't matter, unless you're a foreigner who couldn't get a carrier contract and have to buy phones out of pocket.

Professional, 15 Apr 2025Once more showing, that people buy brands and not technology. Many factors are at play here. First Apple benefits from premiumization, people are holding on their phones for longer, but when they upgrade they splurge and for Apple most of their phones are high end.
Apple has beaten out Samsung, but Samsung's position has been shaky for a long time, it had been overtaken by Huawei before the sanctions and even though they had some innovations after with the high zoom camera, folds and flips, they have been stagnant if you compare with the Chinese flagships.
And what caused Samsung to lose their footing likely isn't the flagship sales as S25 sales are good, but midrange/entry level offerings from Samsung, which used to make up a sizable amount of their sales are starting to collapse as it simply couldn't compete with the likes of Xiaomi, Oppo (Oneplus) and Vivo.

I mean how do you buy your shirt or shoes? Do you buy based on the actual thread count of the fabric, or the brand/branding?

Anonymous, 15 Apr 2025Didn't know it was possible for iPhone sales to grow f... moreDespite Japan having a very high iPhone share, consumers in Japan have been unable to buy the latest iPhones in the past few years due to a weak yen and high prices.
Usually in countries with a high iPhone share, the most recent generations of the Pro and Pro Max are the best sellers, but in Japan, the previous generation of iPhones are the best sellers.
Japanese people don't care about the many features an iPhone has to offer, they just want the cheapest iPhone they can find.
