Android 16 will bring a new anti-theft feature to phones not made by Google and Samsung

15 April 2025
For now it's exclusive to Google and Samsung handsets, but that will change.

Wow these people are blind. The screencap literally shows on/off switch so it's completely optional.

          So ... what's the point to pin/password ?
In this situation they a useless. So what`s the point of having them ?

It should be opt-in or be enabled by preference.

Biometrics should act as additional layer of protection instead of replacing pin/password. Anyone can use your finger when you are (in deep) sleep, pass out, or dead. Sure, pin or password can be bypassed/bruteforced but not as easy especially if the other party have little information about you.

Falling back to pin if biometrics fail is actually a good idea.

People will disable them anyway and use only pin.

So, 3rd party backdoor instead. Good one.
