There is no reason to change to A56 if you have already A55.

DarlingYext, 18 Apr 2025I'm curious as to why you think that. In my opinion it... moreA55 was never an upgrade, same camera, battery, and resolution. Actually PPI decreased because screen got bigger with the same resolution. Not to mention that ugly bump around power and volume buttons.
Now that you mentioned the A53, they're almost the same, except for the 64MP camera.
But let's be honest here, A54 looks way better and feels way more comfortable in hand because it's a bit shorter and wider.
I had them all as work phone, except for the last one because I settled with S24 alone with my personal S24 ultra.

Why Samsung has removed the microSD slot?
I've an A55, and will be my last Samsung mobile.

Mahmood Albraim, 18 Apr 2025Both suck, A54 was a GOAT. I'm curious as to why you think that. In my opinion it wasn't a huge upgrade over the A53, especially because of the huge bezel downgrade, but then the A55 was a huge upgrade over the A54. What do you think?

15 gms lighter is more than enough to consider this an upgrade keeping aside the stupidity of new-launch price.

I have the A55 and I will never update to A56. The difference is so minimal. The battery on A55 is amazing and the removal of SD card in A56 is a very bad decision. Previously, I used A50 and it is just an excellent phone. I use it from time to time and in my opinion don't update your phone until having a lot of new features in the new phone. Don't waste your money on similar specs phones.

Don't overthink it. Grab the A55 if you want a microSD slot.

A55 is the last A5x phone from Samsung. With A56 they clearly show people have to pay ~100-150€€ more for S..FE or base S series, if they want upper midrange phone.

Sadly other vendors aren't really using the opportunity to really steal the market share. Only Poco x7 pro is actually a viable option, all the rest are following Samsung trend of overpriced and nerfed gadgets :( bad for us, customers..

Never gonna buy a midrange phone without sdcard slot, I can do away without a 3.5mm jack but never sdcard.

The A56 is basically the same phone, but it's slightly faster. However neither are particularly fast, or slow and the A56 no longer has an SD card slot, like many other phones in that price range, so it's nothing special. The A55 is the better value.

Both suck, A54 was a GOAT.

It is more like a sidegrade tbh.

To be fair, ever since the Samsung A52s, there is nothing in the A-series that is worth upgrading for. Performance has a minor upgrade and that's it; software experience is almost the same, screen is bright enough to be used outside, camera has still the Samsung color tuning (ofc it has).

Except for the kinda plastic build (which can't be noticed if used with a case), just go for the flagships if you REALLY want an upgrade.

samsung are pigs for money for removing the micro sd card

Minimal upgrades, get the last year version for less for better deal. Thus it’s more useful to do comparison with even older models because nobody’s doing that for those looking for upgrades.

Yeah... The A56 is just not worth it at current prices, and also with no 512 GB storage option. The A55 represents far better value. Yes, you will be sacrificing 25-30% performance. But it is currently available for 25-30% cheaper, you still get updates till 2029, and some extra goodies.

The yearly upgrade cycle ship has sailed long time ago. Plus most phones now have 4 years of upgrades or even longer. So how about comparing the A56 with an older device like A53 or older? People who are looking for an upgrade are likely those with older phones, not ones with the previous year model.
