eveeeve, 02 May 2025Eh, they're not really better, I've heard many ho... moreI'm sorry I didn't have time to reply, and once I did, I forgot to do do.
However, here I am now, with possibly the longest comment of mine ever, and that's because I know what you are saying because I've been in that situation.
So at first let's mention my phones that don't matter much. My very first phone wasn't a smartphone, but a Sony Ericsson slider phone, and while I loved that thing, when I got older my parents thought it was time for me to move to a smartphone. Yes, I said my parents, and not me, this was a long time ago.
Anyways, so I got my very first smartphone, which was an HTC Desire S, I remember being a heavy user of it, but at most what that could've been was browsing the internet. Once that got way too outdated, I got a Huawei P8 Lite, and I don't know if it was a faulty one, or I was expecting too much from it in circa 2016, but while I haven't read bad opinions about it, my experience with it is awul. It had next to no battery life, a bad display and it was terribly slow, the only good thing about it was the camera, but using that meant a powerbank was NECESSARY. At this point I was looking at new phones in stores, and instantly what I wanted was a Samsung, any Samsung, didn't matter which one. Their launch of the Galaxy S8 really helped my attention to go towards them, but of course that's not what I got. (Or did I?)
I got a Galaxy J5, still not with my own money, but that was a phone that I really liked, it was never supposed to be fast, but I never felt it was slow, battery life was amazing, and the camera was just as good as that of the P8 Lite, if not a little better. Still, I couldn't get the S8 out of my head, it was so futuristic, and once I had enough money to buy that myself, I did. That was in 2019, but right before the launch of the S10 series, the phone I bought was brand new and had warrant as well, those weren't my issues with it, wanting more, or needing the triple cameras of the S10 weren't my issues either. It was the change of their software, altough I haven't heard many people praising Samsung Experience UI, I was a huge fan of it, and I would still be a Samsung user, if it wasn't for One UI. The One UI update completely ruined my experience with the S8, so much so that the next phone I was looking at, and then actually GOT (yes, again not bought from my own money), was an iPhone, the SE 2020 to be specific. That was the wrong decision, as there was another phone that I was looking at, at the same time, the Xiaomi Mi Note 10. You know why I chose the iPhone? I wish I could say software was the reason, but I'm not gonna lie, it was the size of it, for some reason I wanted a small phone more than one with a lot more features. I'm sure that all sounds strange given that my current devices are either large, or literally the largest on the market. (Magic4 Pro, vivo X Note, Infinix Zero 30/Ultra) But let's not get ahead of ourselves so much.
So it took me half a year with the SE 2020 to know that said device isn't for me, it was too small and too boring, and while using it, it became clear to me that what I want is something from vivo, but the brand wasn't available in my country until last year, so I imported an iQOO 5 Pro, which was everything I actually wanted, but it was still a bit too small. Then came the end of 2022, 2 years after the purchase of my iQOO 5 Pro, didn't want to switch phones, just wanted to experiment so I got a device from a brand that was new to me back then, that was the Infinix Zero Ultra, kept going back and forth between the two, while realising that I like the size and battery life of the Infinix more, but I prefer Origin OS and the cameras of the vivo, so I started eyeing the vivo X Note, the perfect device for my needs, imported it in 2023, and got it at the end of May. It's still the perfect phone for me, and I would never sell it.
I'm sure you are either wondering about the other 2 devices, or you don't care about this whole story, I would understand both, especially the latter, but thank you for sticking with me through this long comment, if you did.
The Magic4 Pro is one I got last year, used but perfect condition device btw, I was interested in Honor's take on Android, and the cameras. Their version of Android 14 was a bit boring but there was plenty to like as well, but the cameras of it, except for the zoom lens, are disappointing even compared to my duo of Infinix devices, the zoom lens is better than that of the vivo, but of course it is with more than twice the sensor size, and 8 times the resolution, so this device mainly stays in a drawer even after the Android 15 update of it, the UI is much improved and now I actually really like it, but cameras are too important for me. As for the Infinix Zero 30, this one is kind of a weird story, I imported one at the end of 2023, straight from India, 8GB/256GB variant, and shocker it was region locked, luckily the seller helped me unlock it in 2 days and it worked (still works) perfectly. So, for some reason a month ago I decided to buy another Zero 30, but this time around a version that is meant for my country, and it's the 12/256GB variant. It's essentially the same phone, but somehow 2 years later I really like it.
Thank you for reading all this, if you did,
Lewis Y.

They're only better if they can FULLY match or having more OneUI features WHILE having same, or more Android upgrade generations than Samsung.
You literally have to jump through hoops of, and gamble on Custom ROM support on Xiaomi/Redmis to compensate their mediocre MIUI/Software. They're only good for secondary phones
I also said that "There are times where people move to manufacturer A to manufacturer B, and vice versa. Because of "used to be present at that time" ", you don't fully read it or reading only the first paragraph or you don't have any points in my other paragraphs or what?

Samsung user here. Still waiting for Android 15 (OneUI 7). This is frustrating really. It's not like the update is bringing quantum computing or some s#*t that it's taking THIS long for Samsung to deliver. I'm disappointed.
