Watch the video in the article and it is shown right there it's Google Lens. The "feature" is basically a shortcut to take a screenshot and run Google Lens translation on it. Nothing "AI" about it LOL.

Anonymous, 6 hours agoA little off topic, but: Out of all Chinese brands, which o... moreI think it depends on the specific phone. Personally, I think Color OS has the best software so I'd like Oneplus software wise as Oxygen OS is almost the same as color OS. This year I used the Oneplus 13 and Xiaomi 15 for a while (about a week). I liked the Xiaomi 15 because of the small size and the main camera was a bit better. But the Oneplus was basically better for most other things, especially the speakers, the screen, software (this is subjective), ultrawide camera and zoom camera (especially for portraits). I ended up keeping neither though. I haven't used Honor for a while so I can't really comment but I am not mad on their video processing. However, I know they have excellent ratings in China for the screens (especially for sensitive eyes), the speakers on the Magic 7 series are the best of any current Chinese flagships (but again that wouldn't be the case for other models) and their call quality and signal quality is nearly always rated at the top for their flagship phones that have their self developed signal enhancement chip. I liked their software when I used it previously as I used to buy Huawei or Honor phones before the US restrictions but I haven't used them for a number of years apart from trying out their phones in stores. I can't really comment in general though as I think it depends on the specific phones your are considering too. All these brands have excellent phones but also ones that aren't really great

Anonymous, 6 hours agoA little off topic, but: Out of all Chinese brands, which o... moreOff topic: Not the guy you asked, but I am also German and have worked in the industry for several years, so I know your pain. If you don't need eSIM and are ok with import, consider to buy directly from China. Much cheaper even with all the import fee, while Chinese software is usually superior to the overseas versions due to the bigger focus of the vendors.
If you don't want to buy locally, you kinda have answered your question yourself. Xiaomi is out and you are highly likely a tech enthusiast if commenting on GSMArena = go with OnePlus. Honor at the moment is under lots of internal changes and needs to reposition itself and the portfolio after Huawei taking their market share in China back from them, so wait and see.
Btw. you still can buy OPPO and Vivo even after they recently retreated the German market, check Amazon.
On topic: Live-Translation while able to move/scroll is the best. So easy to navigate apps in other languages. Should be industry standard.

Aierlan, 9 hours agoThe screen translate they use in Origin OS can translate au... moreA little off topic, but: Out of all Chinese brands, which one would you recommend me? I'm living in Germany and I can only purchase Chinese phones from Xiaomi, Honor (Huawei), and OnePlus. Unfortunately no Oppo or Vivo.
I kinda dislike Xiaomi, im more fond of OnePlus. Which brand is the "best" among them regarding hardware quality and usability of the OS in terms of user friendly and customizable Android skin.
Any major pros or cons?
Thank you on advance!

potato4k, 12 hours agoAI screen translation is just Google Lens. The screen translate they use in Origin OS can translate automatically as you scroll down through a webpage or app. Oppo also has had this feature for a number of years and they implemented it before Vivo (OPPO's works even better). It's very convenient as on other phones e.g. Xiaomi for example, the software effectively takes a snapshot of the page you are on and translates that but doesn't allow you to scroll down and read and translate automatically. It infuriates me on Hyper OS as it's so backward and takes so much time to translate an article as you have to exit the translation software, scroll down and renter the translation tool and translate what's on the screen everytime you scroll down to a new part of the page. Xiaomi's software is just so behind other Chinese brands. I don't use Google lens as I'm in China but I'm wondering does it allow you to translate webpages and what's on the screen as you scroll? If not, then I think Vivo's implementation would be very useful for anybody who needs translation functions.
