29 April 2025
They are getting a feature previously reserved for the Galaxy S flagships.

I already have this through goodlock(registar). Does this mean I can do it now without using registar?

Will they also make it easier to delete all that ai or assisstant stuff if we don't want them? Because no matter what I do, google assisstant keeps reappearing on my Watch6.

My oppo find X5 from 2022 can do this (hold power button for gemini), how is this news?

Also looks like Bixby really took off then, oh well... Samsung a.i. woo!

Luke, 29 Apr 2025but that is the case now, right? I mean both bixby and g as... moreThe UI is a deceptive "Dark Pattern" designed and made easy for users to accidentally accept. That's the problem. In addition, the menu pops up out of nowhere when you hold the button.

It should only pop up when you're navigating to it's section in the Settings app & during first boot setup.

EU has many laws that target deceptive "Dark Pattern" UI menus.

why did it take so long to add such a simple feature???

Really should have a reprogrammable key instead of putting it on the power button, but I guess this is fine as long as Samsung don't do a TCL and make this the only long press functionality (for some stupid reason TCL don't even let you change it away from the assistant).

I mean both bixby and g assistant were asking for accepting the EULA before even starting up. Not that if you decline they won't sniff all they can, but still some believers can preach about being safe with those companies.. :)

Wow a great advancement in mobile industry

The power button is, and should only be there to turn on and off a device, there are better ways to implement features like this. Separate, BUT re-programmable buttons for example.

All they did is made it invoke Gemini instead of Bixby by default... Why the announcement?

The EU should force all Tech companies to toggle off AI by default out of the box. They have to get your consent first if they want to display an AI agent.
