Video editing and creation or pro level.
NPU performance for local on device generative Ai computations and actions.
Its not just what you can do ON the phone itself using the built in screen, it's what you can do with your phone on an external screen, KB and Mouse and peripheral setup

Eyaddy, 18 hours agoBalance in Performance and a snapdragon processor don'... moreBs!!!
Every soc generates heat regardless WHO makes or designs it. Period!!
In fact all numbers of short and long term sustained performance of high load shows the 9400/9400+ generating more heat than the 8 Elite.

Smartwatchguy, 17 hours agoVery true! Easy way to market new devices and get more sale... moreYou're talking out your but cheeks and making beat-box noise of a dirty rudeboy with no class.
Case in point all top gaming phones use the 8 Elite.
Processors use electricity. That means sustained performance to be had generates heat and thus needs cooling to achieve sustained performanc3 on any chioset on any device used anywhere!
It's simple physics ... study it for once before pitting verbatim what you heard on the internet and making up nonsense.

Anonymous, 15 hours ago8s is the flagship killer (upper mid)
7+ is the mid range ... moreA flagship killer uses the best chip available i.e. 8 Elite or 9400. 8s is upper midrrange or lower flagship.
Qualcomm product segmentation is getting more confusing. Almost as confusing as Intel.
People liked Kirin more because no nonsense, always the best chip available. Huawei only has 2 levels of chips, flagship and mid-tier.

Meanwhile, Qualcomm keeps gatekeeping mid-rangers by rebranding the same old SoC 685/695/6gen1 again and again, stagnating mid-rangers for years to come.

Hopefully it will have better heat management and won't throttle as much as 8 elite.

dbizzle, 19 hours agoWow I'm surprised to see such big improvements again w... moreVery true! Easy way to market new devices and get more sales. Mega pixels, resolution, refresh rates have and OS updates had their time, now back to processing power.
Heat, throttling etc, a hardcore phone gamer would need this plugged and game outdoors winter time to use some of the chips to their full capacity.
If some of the AI stuff was done locally to mitigate privacy issues that would be a nice justification but, stakeholders have other plans..data analytics = $.

Anonymous, 19 hours agoWhat I said is true, I have told you, all flagship smartpho... moreBalance in Performance and a snapdragon processor don't mix together. Snapdragon processors especially the 8 Elite run very hot which results in heavy throttling and the 8 Elite is also more expensive than the 8 Gen 3 which is not a very good thing and theoretically the 8 Elite is the fastest processor for android phones until it starts throttling unless you have a gaming phone like a Redmagic 10 pro along with a cooling fan then the 8 Elite won't throttle that bad.
In my opinion a Dimensty processor is better in efficiency and Dimensty processors don't run hot compared to snapdragon processors.

Downgrade Flagship 2025 Snapdragon 8 Elite gen 1
Oppo: The company has reduced the display resolution in its latest models, opting for lower pixel density. Downgrade Resistance glass for Oppo X8 Ultra
Vivo: In the Vivo X200 Ultra, the main camera sensor has been downsized from the previous 1-inch sensor to a smaller 1/1.3-inch sensor, which may impact low-light performance and depth of field effects. Vivo X200 Ultra to replace predecessor's 1-inch sensor with smaller main camera
Samsung The S Pen in the Galaxy S25 Ultra has been downgraded by removing Bluetooth functionality. This change eliminates features such as remote camera shutter control and air gestures, though the stylus remains lighter and no longer requires charging.
iPhone: While Apple has introduced AI features like Visual Intelligence in the iPhone 16 series, these functionalities are still in development and may not yet meet user expectations for accuracy and reliability.
Huawei and Sony: Both companies continue to prioritize innovation and technological advancement in their products. Huawei Deepseek Ai, Sony New Sensor

Wow I'm surprised to see such big improvements again well done. But what are we actually using all this power for now, these things are just turning into really expensive hand warmers..

What I said is true, I have told you, all flagship smartphones this year are the worst, except for the Sony Xperia 1 VII which uses a new camera sensor 48mp and Snapdragon 8 Elite with slot Microsd (Microsd Express 500mbps) and Headphones Jack 3.5mm gen 2 (Clearer sound). And I have said since October 2024 that the Snapdragon 8 Elite is balanced in performance but not the fastest, and the 2nd gen will have 30% better performance.
