I remember the time the smartphone market used to grow 30-40% per year. Now it is what 0.2?
This is the new normal. Atmost the smartphone market will grow 1-2% year over year, next year if the market bounces back.
Smartphone manufacturers should begin to think about research into new kind of devices if they want future growth. Probably devices like rollable phones, smartglasses/A.R glasses, and/ or a device that is a combination of rabbitR1 and humane A.I pin or 'stretchable' phones (I don't mean a scroll). Stretchable phones that are small enough to use as a smartwatch and when removed from wrist, can be stretched to a smartphone or tablet
(Granted a device like this could take 8-10 years to bring to market) so it's best to begin R&D now.
These are the kinds of devices that could replace smartphones, tablets, computers, televisions until A.R contact lenses arrive.

Because everything is stale and feels like an irrelevant sidegrade to my daily, average user tasks. I still rock OP 8T daily and I know that I'll have to eventually replace it with something new, but really I don't know to what. There is no proper ecosystem/roadmap established by any of the manufacturers. You just open up specs spreadsheet, compare and expect yourself to choose from superficial numbers and few here and there soulless samples...
And this demise doesn't end there as every single brand nowadays has been pushing out re-badged garbages with like 15-30% annual performance uplifts that literally goes unutilized for 95% of the audience. Cameras? Can't recall the last time I genuinely was excited to hear anything about cameras in a smartphone. Features? AI? You're joking right? And they wonder why sales have diminished and many tech savvy people calling smartphone industry just dead...

why don't they mention the total phones shipped in each country/continent rather showing just the percentage growth?

It's going to be interesting how trumps tariffs are going to affect the mobile market.
Will we see a decline in apple products being purchased because of the increase in pricing (and people going for older, refurbished models/sticking with current one longer which is an easy possibility at this point with software support and great hardware).
Be interesting to see companies from china/other lesser known/rep brands like TCL and blackview and even HMD phones and how the end of year will look for these types of companies.
Don't know why but I have a feeling the pixel line is going to profit with a bigger customer base and we'll see them gaining a bigger percentage by next year (feel it's not going to hit them as hard/they only focus on certain countries anyway sorta thing).
Watch this space.

Probably due to tariffs, lack of generational upgrades from big brands in Western markets and longer software support from many brands. Also, the smartphone market has become a more mature market, so the growth potential even in the best case scenario is becoming more and more limited.

Q2 charts should clear things up ig (?) as Chinese phones got launched just now globally
Interesting data tho, Apple's growth is insane considering the higher than ever prices, and Samsung's sales are suspiciously similar to last year. Only this much, despite the heavy discounts and great deals... lmao
