PureOS, 2 hours agoZenfone has the smallest screen of modern Androids. Btw, s2... moreYes the Zenfone 10 has a smaller screen than the S25, but it's not really a smaller phone, so that's a not a positive of it. Asus should've continued with the compact Zenfone lineup with under 6" phones but with smaller bezels to actually be smaller than the base S series.

PureOS, 2 hours agoZenfone has the smallest screen of modern Androids. Btw, s2... moreIphone 13 mini : 131.5 x 64.2 x 7.7 mm
= truly compact
Zenfone 10 : 146.5 x 68.1 x 9.4 mm
Base S25 : 146.9 x 70.5 x 7.2 mm
= both standard size
A 4 mm width difference (13 mini : 68.2 mm vs Z10 : 64.2 mm) is more noticeable than a 2 mm difference, the same applies to thickness and especially height.
Only the iPhone mini is the last real "compact modern phone", not the Zenfone, or the S25 is the new mini compact flagship.

another dumb iphone-clone brick. I guess smooth curved phones that dont pierce your palms will be gone by October. thanks samsung, bbk and xiaomi.
Motorola isn't following the trend, but they have given up on flagships so really, who cares.
at least a second hand 8 Elite should last me for a long while.

PureOS, 3 hours agoOnly compact modern phones were iphone mini and Asus Zenfon... moreOnly the iPhone mini lineup is truly mini compact, unless the base 6.2" S25 is also a compact mini phone because it has the same dimensions as the 5.92" Zenfone 10 just 2mm larger but 2.2mm thinner and 10g lighter, with newer hardware (because of smaller bezels).
I'd call these standard size, but not truly mini, like how compact the last iPhone mini was (sub 5.5" with 'thin' bezels).

Only compact modern phones were iphone mini and Asus Zenfone line. Phone with 6.3 inch can't be called compact by any means.

Darth Caesium, 5 hours agoJust make a smaller OnePlus 13 smh. This phone's posit... moreThey made it like this for a reason. A smaller Oneplus 13 would be better than the find x8s and would take sales away from the find x8s. They basically wanted a cheaper small phone as they already have the find x8s in the more expensive category with better cameras and wireless charging. This offers a significantly cheaper alternative in China which is its main market

They have shit themselves in the foot by removing ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and USB 3.0. I don't care about ultrawide, but many do. I wouldn't be surprised if people may favour xiaomi 15 over this despite it having kinda 'smaller' battery. And if OnePlus comes to the conclusion that people don't want compact phones because of that, then they are just naive.

I almost never consider all the good things the people on this topic mentioned, when I'm out to buy a phone. I often buy to fun, not always premium class, I like interesting colors, or a striking design, various manufacturers. The emotional factor is very important. Vivo x200whatever, as an example, with a plug in place of a lens camera in premium class, have for me the emotional factor of zero.
There are a multitude of use cases, and while comparative tests have sense, even this kind of discussion have sense, at the end of the day, a particular person can find joy using a less optimal phone, for personal reasons.

Eyaddy, 5 hours agoResale value? You may care about it but I don't since ... moreIgnoring resale or trade-in value on a €600+ phone is a bad investment, but hey, it's your money.
As for bands, according to GSMArena, here are all the 4G bands the X200 Pro Mini misses from the global Pixel 9 Pro:
12, 13, 14, 17, 20, 21, 25, 29, 30, 42, 48, 71, 75
And 5G misses one:
2, 7, 12, 14, 20, 25, 26, 30, 66, 71, 75, 76, 79, Sub6
And there is another variant with different bands and mmWave for different market, I guess for the US.
Google offer longer OS support (and ability to install GrapheneOS).
And with imports, you have no official support or warranty here, pray it doesn't arrive dead.
I'm not "glazing" over the Pixel (I disliked the 8 series), but factually, the Pixel 9 Pro is a better, properly supported global alternative to that specific Vivo import, unless, of course, Google also isn't selling their phones in your country.
Anyway, a deliberately cut-down imported phone, lacking more than half its bands, having no value and zero official support, should be cheaper. That's the price of compromise.

gsmarena, 4 hours agoGsmArena Editors and their "eternal" hate for &qu... moreRight. Small phones need to make a comeback fr.
Currently, the options are all above 6 inches size, which of course isn't compact, maybe small but not compact in exact way. They need to bring back phones under 6, with a single camera. IDC. Just give me a small phone ffs. These large brick phones are infuriatingly large and a menace to hold and manage with one hand, and they don't even fit well in pocket, especially if I'm wearing a skinny jeans, it's such an inconvenience then. There used to be android phones as small as 3.5 inches back in the day, but they don't want to go back to even 5.5 these days

DarlingYext, 8 hours agoGood device, but it's not worth importing with the amo... moreOf course it is better than the Oneplus 13t but it is in a different price category. 3,399rmb versus 4,499rmb. Well over 30% more expensive. If you don't need wireless charging and top level cameras then the Oneplus 13t makes more sense as you save a lot of cash and get far better battery life (miles ahead of the x200 pro mini in the Chinese battery tests) and also has better performance and is far more comfortable to hold as the camera bump completely gets in the way with the x200 pro mini. If you need wireless charging and the cameras then of course pay the extra for the Vivo if you have it

It's not built with good performance or thermals in mind either. The thermometer on the back of a Pixel would only be truly useful if it could check the temperature of the phone itself.
Sure, the base Pixel has 16GB of RAM, but also 128GB of midrange UFS 3.1 storage, and actually every storage option of the Pixel is limited to the slower UFS 3.1. The vivo starts with 256GB, and the 512GB variant already has 16GB of RAM, but every option has UFS 4.0.
The vivo also has a way larger battery than the Pixel with much faster wired and wireless charging and it comes with both the fast charging brick and a case to protect the device.

GsmArena Editors and their "eternal" hate for "small" & "compact" phones.
Please, let people live, as they wish, will you?
Also if they are not launching in EU & US, isn't that clear that people there don't prefer small phones owing to large hands? Elsewhere, they did that survey which is why then they decided to launch the small phone. Why is GSMARENA so in denial that there are sizable chunk of population that want small phones? Why this "one size fits all"? Why do you think markets have t-shirts in S, M, L , XL when they can rather make one size XL and make everyone wear that? Seriously how difficult is this to understand being the chief editors of the largest running smartphone focussed tech reporting website?
If people want small, any improvement in this direction is so much welcome. For people desperately waiting years using 6.4" slabs, anything is better, even 6.3", even 6.2" and even 6.0".

ProMaxUltraAreBricks, 5 hours agoSure, whether you prefer the pure Pixel OS experience or a ... moreResale value? You may care about it but I don't since I won't sell the phone, network bands? The X200 pro mini has all necessary 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G network bands, official support? Vivo claims that the X200 series be supported with 4 OS updates and 5 years of security patches and that's all what I will need, warranty? Just keep the phone in safe places and protect it by using a GOOD PROTECTIVE case and if anything happens to the screen you can buy another AMOLED display from the manufacturer if possible or buy a 3rd party good AMOLED display but still you need to take care of the phone + there is no official Google support in my country.
