Anonymous, 05 May 2025Actually, lens is the most defining factor in image quality... moreWell, you are also correct, without a good lens, the image quality is poor regardless of sensor size. But as stated "all else equal" and presumably the lens quality is >= ok, the processing power and algorithms similar, the sensor tech also similar, the defining factor in image quality is the sensor size.

What i mean is that his behaviour is annoying and equivalent to/comparable to a Samsung fanboy's. I'm not calling him a Samsung fanboy but im saying he has traits similar to a Samsung fanboy's.

So what? Samsung is affordable globally, Vivo only in China. Imagine luxury car available only in one country. Could be even better than Ferrari, but not for foreigners. The same is with Vivo - good phones just for locals.

Eno2, 05 May 2025"Oppo's photos look blurry, even my grandma can t... moreActually, lens is the most defining factor in image quality, sensor size is important in the limit to that quality, the amount of light gathering and information that is able to be processed. Aka if you put a nice lens on a phone sensor it will still look bad, or a bad lens on a full frame sensor.
But honestly arguing over phone sensors is hilarious and never ceases to amaze me, particularly when these people don't realize you can buy an older apsc camera from 2016 for like $200usd that will still run circles around any phone sensor today in IQ.

Specs of 1500 Apple phone are equal to a 700 eur chinese flagship.
In case of Samsung is the same. S25 Ultra cost the same as Xiaomi 15 Ultra for example but Xiaomi 15 ultra is many times better device in every aspect. Camers, battery, charging speeds, screen etc.

Forget the Mainstream Market, these luxury smartphones from BBK Electronics cannot even appeal to the Enthusiast Market. Until they fix that, it is almost an impossibility.
They need to have ALL the radios, so it can work in multiple carriers in multiple countries and continents. The software needs to be greatly improved. The Chinese Software is great, but the English Version has issues, and other language models even popular ones (Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, Russian, French, Spanish, Portuguese) have a lot of issues. And lastly they do have the issue of volume. Remember that Apple sells around 40 Million Units per year, for just a single variant. Samsung sells closer to around 20 Million Units per year, for their flagship, and other brands sell around 1 Million Units per year. These BBK flagships sell under that amount, only in the hundred thousands.
So here is the trick !
- Keep the phone great as it is (best processor, camera, screen, etc etc)
- Make the software more basic, so updates are easy and quick. Fix the translations.
- Design the devices to be cheaply and easily repaired, this extra dollar saves nine.
- Have the devices support all radios, so they're functional worldwide
- Just do it, and manufacture 1-5 Million Units. Allow these devices to be easily imported by people worldwide/grey market.
- Allow your company goodwill, word of mouth, and some clever marketing.
Just for context ZERO phones from BBK Electronics have made it outside of Mainland China. That was until a small team was allowed to cook. So this group led by a Westernised Employee named Carl Pei, he teamed up with CyanogenMod, and made something both unique and appealing. It was a grey market device. And the success of that breakout, allowed the small division of OnePlus to pave the way for Oppo and other BBK phones to be welcomed in the western markets. That playbook worked back then, and it could still work now. Just as long as the company has proper leadership, so they don't live long enough to become their own enemy.

If X200U is launched globally, it will be priced at 1490 euros, the same as 15U. This price is difficult to compete with Samsung and Apple, and the battery specifications are likely to be reduced.

The Techtablets channel compared the x200 ultra, the Xiaomi 15 ultra, and the Oppo Find x8 ultra. He concluded, that Vivo is the best camera phone, adding in the comments that it makes no sense to compare Vivo to iPhone and Samsung because Vivo has superior hardware- Vivo can shoot 4K/120 with every single rear camera. Xiaomi and Oppo can't. Vivo can record log videos. Oppo can't.
Vivo can shoot at 24fps. The other two phones can't.
Vivo has the largest ultrawide-camera sensor on the market- twice the size of its competitors. It's the only phone in the world with optical image stabilization for its ultrawide camera. This is why Vivo handily beat the competition at the Techtablets night walk. This means, X200 Ultra is the only phone in the world to offer optical image stabilization for ALL image sensors.
Vivo has the best stabilization (zoom and ultrawide), the best ultrawide (day and night), and the best zoom (day and night) – not because of the software, but because of the best hardware (plus two imaging chips)

jiyen235, 05 May 2025You can infer from the "look". Oppo's photos... more"Oppo's photos look blurry, even my grandma can tell it"
If the shooter has shaking hands, he may get that result. The photos coming out of my Find X8 Ultra are talk sharp and very detailed, and I have full size sample images to back my claim, for anyone interested. :)
"RAW shots only show what the sensor is capable of, not what the phone does."
Oppo has introduced computational 16 bit RAW formats, both in 12,5MP mode and 50 RAW Max mode. The results are a testimony of both the sensors and the processing algorithms.
"No point in arguing with someone like you. Bringing up random stuff like sensor size, RAW and color science when i didn't even talk about that."
All else equal, sensor size is the main defining factor in image quality.
"All that matters is the end result and Oppo's shots aren't as nice as Vivo's."
What matters is the truth, and agree that truth may be subjective depending on the point of view. You may like something I don't and vice versa, like colors and tonal graduations, there is no point in arguing here. But facts based on technical aspects that can be measured like: sensor size, aperture opening, noise, color accuracy, detail/resolution, artifacts, AF speed/accuracy, stabilization etc; leave no room for interpretation if they are properly compared.
If you want to be taken seriously, provide prof: full size sample images, on all optical focal lengths, both RAW and JPG, both in good and low light, if you want to discuss about facts. and not you feelings. :)

Palera, 04 May 2025It really is a shame because I truly believe that phones li... moreI have no idea why there are China only models, or why some company advocates and implements it for their FLAGSHIP phones.
There are additional real world events that do exist which may factor in however not explained by Vivo is it's reason in this latest.
So Me Guessing.
Each physical store set up here in UK (+Quantity sales to cover Salaries, rents utilities, taxes )
Networks:
Apple is not dictated to at all, Samsung weilds significant power. Networks do have significant power otherwise, as to what phone they support and carry, and if Vivo would be be be offer dismounted price much lower than RRP
If you import the item ot will be bought at FULL PRICE there will be no volume discount given so you pay all the import taxes and .....pay then importer
E.g if the price drops in China it won't be passed on
The prices aren't inflated, they're simple not discounted or drop with time
Sales analysis.
It is easy to use marketing figures from other peer "global" companies to predict or extrapolate what the best case / worse case scenario for any additional sales global sales generate if the primary China only is dropped
The camera bump for me is more an INCENTIVE to purchase. As it China only I just haven't researched it to the nth degree and hasn't hit me as a phone I must have so will import. I do keep track of the brand flagship specs
To wrap up the X200 Ultra has a 6000mAh battery 500mAh more than the X100 Ultra plus with Armor glasss I will check out the review

Tranquillow, 05 May 2025Confirmed: people here are vivo fanboysIts better than the Xiaomi 15 Ultra - the Xiaomi does have nothing compareable, only a slightly bigger main Sensor, and that's it. Tele camera is another Story. I'd take a X200 Ultra any day over a 15 Ultra Xiaomi, period.
