Anonymous, 03 May 2025We are in a time where Android go should not have a reason ... moreWhile we collectively agree that low end chipsets should phase out (pretty much all of Unisoc & Helio and SD/Exynos/Dimensity alternatives to their tier), we are not the main audience they're intended for. Mostly very poor countries to transition them into the modern digital age. The rest that follow afterwards (like mid-rangers, high end and flagships) are very WANTS specific trends than general basis. Like I still use OP 8T as my main device, it's overall a great mini PC with it's specs to this day for my casual daily tasking, but the more less time I have to spare for my hobbies (including tech), the less I crave for features that I don't even properly utilize in the first place (cutting down digital consumption in general). I will always be the average Joe that proposes to reach for mid-rangers and up (it's still the major audience that uses them in 1st world countries), but in the very fast paced lifestyle - low end phones makes sense when one values time over advanced features. I think average people nowadays care less and less for tech enthusiasts like features and more for the cameras. Although, I wish more low end phones included NFC, because most sign ins into work apps, banking etc. require NFC.
Besides that, manufacturers push low end phones to fill the gap between competition, even if they can't really undercut price wise without a loss. So yeah, low end phones for us are literal e-waste, but for others - their only option.
It's kind of mesmerizing, but also difficult to believe that not just long ago mid-rangers were like nowadays low ends and low ends were like cave age tools back then. So the technology has surpassed the expected leap for the vast majority of average user needs.
Similar proposition can be raised about the low end tools/vehicles/construction materials etc. If one is content with basic stuff (the purpose is to be used, right?) then I see no issues. If they WANT premium features then they have to pay the according price.

pl2rts, 03 May 2025I kind of hope already something better in the price range ... moreWe are in a time where Android go should not have a reason to exist. But because manufacturers are cheaping out on RAM, that’s where we are.

I kind of hope already something better in the price range of 135 euro.
This phone looks at best 90 euro
Dimensity 6300 is basically Helio G90 with 5G
We should already be in a time where Android Go be OS on this type of hardware.
