Abo King, 07 May 2025Launching annually actually brings big risks for Apple. ... moreApple has been very slowly copying Android phone manufacturers all the time. Apple still hasn't finished copying 120 Hz screens.

Launching annually actually brings big risks for Apple.

Anything it is working could be vulnerably exposed during the beginning of the year then getting copied by android makers before September, ends up getting accused of copying others after launching in the September.

So yes, launching semiannual would be better option, only if they launch every model twice a year, not separating models to launch one another for different times.

I miss the time when they released exactly one iPhone a year. I loved that. It was something truly different from everyone else. “Here’s our new iPhone, this is what we envisioned our phone should be, take it or leave it.”

The best argument against this is the very argument Kuo makes: competition. Or more specifically, the perceived lack of it. Apple is so stuck up as to believe that they are only competing against themselves (which is even true in some markets/demographics), and regular new releases are the best way for them to capitalize on what they see as their captive audience. At some point they'll use this as an argument against their 4th SKU (rumored to be the Air this generation, previously the Plus and Mini lines) since it will cause people to gravitate towards the "middle" Pro, which has higher margins for Apple.

Anonymous, 06 May 2025Only buy pro models or no any iPhone. But then how you experience the normal, and the max along with air. Also then it will be limited by the colour choice so buy all colours. Then the storage issue. So you should buy all possible combinations of an iPhone.

For me personally, I will buy whatever I like no need of suggestions from others.

But here suggested you because you tried suggesting to others. If not then don't mind. Just get what your budget allows.

In my opinion delaying the launch of the regular iPhone (the actual true iPhone) would be madness and they would lose LOADS of sales.

By March the next year the “Christmas buying desire” has worn off and all the money is spent. People are broke and, if anything, planning holidays. They will not feel any need to replace their perfectly good iPhone for a new one when they can’t afford it.

In December people are so looking forward to a break they overspend and companies rely on that.

It makes more sense that the foldable phone should be released in march/April because its niche and therefore those who want it will have waited for it ands have the money ready.

Also, 17e should also launch with regular iPhone’s for the same reason. Usually if a family member will be gifted a phone it will be for Christmas. Also, after WWDC the public gets hyped for the new iOS which also helps spur new sales in December.

Only buy pro models or no any iPhone.

Semiannual iPhone launches are the best for the credibility of the iPhones and, of course, great for the environment. 😍💚

Yikes. Sounds awful. So your phone is outdated even quicker, that's great.

Even CoD considered skipping a year of release. But at the end they switched their mind.
So no, they will ALWAYS do yearly releases. Gotta make shareholders happy.

NeonHD, 05 May 2025That would be fked up. They should all switch to a biannual... moreNo, annual releases are still necessary for marketing consistency.

Take the car industry. Also yearly releases despite the mature market.

nemesis8, 05 May 2025still stuck to 60hz,and they want the standard model sell more?Starting with the 17 series, they all will have LTPO panels (except maybe for the e model)

still stuck to 60hz,and they want the standard model sell more?

I doubt Apple would delay the regular iPhone 18 release. They would miss the Christmas shopping season, which is a huge deal in western markets. I believe Apple is already comfortable with the current schedule, with the main iPhone lineup in September, and the e model (previously SE) released in the early part of the subsequent year.

I still don't think we would see a foldable iPhone anytime soon. The Air would be the main darling for the near future. We would see a foldable iPad or MacBook first.

That would be fked up. They should all switch to a biannual release schedule instead, given the lack of need to upgrade your phone nowadays. Phones in all price ranges are speedy enough now.
