Healthy amounts of competition in a market will prevent companies from making greedy decisions, because if they do, another competitor will immediately be a better deal and the greedy company will quickly lose market share. The smartphone market currently doesn't have enough competition (at least in the West) for this to work, so companies like Samsung and Apple can get away with upselling their products by giving them worse specs, higher prices and not enough upgrades.

If you understood basic economics instead of assuming all companies are greedy in an unsophisticated Marxist manner, you wouldn't have made that embarrassing comment.

    Correct, I don't, as I don't even have to. The rest of the brands, apart from Apple and Google do the job just fine. Samsung still has the slowest charging speeds alongside with Apple and Google, thus their charging speed is slow, not because I said so, but because the rest of the brands have way faster charging capabilities.

      Imagine Sammy use new Silicon battery tech they would have fitted a much larger battery capacity yet maintain the same size; they would have been KING of Battery life....so why wont they do it.....answer is simple, because Samsung is cheapskate and likes to use recycle old hardarware bins for parts even though they want to charge premium pricing.
      Same thing with the rest of their lineup S25 Ultra same capacity from 5 yrs ago at 5000Mah when even mid range Chinese fones in 2025 have 6000 to 8000Mah lol. Where is the Ultra Specs.... it does not even deserve to be called an Ultra as nothing ultra about the camera or the Battery. Same thing with the new Fold 7 still using old battery 4 years ago and cameras from S23Ultra 2years ago lol 🤣🤣.
      Scamsung is just greedy and complacent because there is no real Chinese competitor making all their fones available outside e.g Oppo N5/Oneplus Open2, Honor Magic v3 etc..

          1. No phone lasts 24hrs and not in 1/4 a day for a "Heavy"

          Oppo N5 doent have a desktop mode many Ai functions are cloud based only, and added a SINGLE feature to its 1st person SW list of only 4 items in 2024: that was to rebrand an existing VNC app with a hidden set of scripts to complete connection protocols and variables.

          There is no synergistic features between 1st party or 3rd party SW (Google vs Oppo/Honor/etc. Samsung has a decent.


          Yhe typical Samsung user (new to OneUI) is up and running out thr box in less than 15mins working through discoveries with SW vs hardware)

          Every o5her brand relys TOO heavily on animations in a skin or component technology to show off the products!

                          As flip 1 fold 1 fold 3 fold 4 and fold 5 user who moved to V3 - I am not buying this 2022 looking junk anymore and so does many fellow book folder users. N5 and V3 smashed Sammy. Need to up the game to see me back and reduce their unreasonable unrealistic prices. Plenty of competition there it's not apple who only has itself

To voluntarily give up on the better and even praise the greed of a company that has been milking them for years. It's shocking to talk about the "good optimization" of old batteries, which leads to a similar SоT as the others. Instead of talking about that with such optimization and new batteries you will have hours more SоT.
                            What else can they research for you and how can they write to you so that you can finally see which is better?
                            Old Samsung and Apple batteries have a life of 500-800 cycles. The new technology gives 1200-1600 cycles. The new ones are safer for the environment during production, also with most life cycles they are less e-waste than the old ones.
                            The larger battery capacity leads to less frequent charging, which leads to slower degradation.
                            The new technology releases the main amount of heat when charging through the adapter and cable, which does not heat up the phone and battery as much, which leads to slower battery degradation.
                            The new technology charges the battery faster, which leads to shorter-term heating of the phone and battery, which leads to slower degradation.
                            It is only necessary to have been attentive in school in physics classes to give yourself the answers. But you still wait for the research... Moreover, it has been used by all manufacturers for several years and the results can be seen with the naked eye.
                            After comments like yours, I feel happy that Samsung and Apple continue to reap the money of their fans.

                                There is no point of having a large foldable that would not last a day for heavy users when you pay nearly A$3000 for a premium fone. Samsung's habit of recycle bin for Hardware parts year after yr such as OLD battery tech and cameras is an absolute disgrace, Fold is officially the smallest battery of any known large foldables in 2025 others have min 5000Mah even 6000Mah Oppo N5 using latest battery tech and Faster charging too.
                                I would rather have at least 5000Mah with S-pen even if it is a 1-2mm thicker, even if it is the best foldable in the world (which it is Not BTW), but what is the point if it would not even last a full day and runs out of battery, who wants to carry another powerbank on top of a large and heavyfone already 🤣.
                                Year after yr the Fold had falling sales and Samsung still does not even get the basics right, cameras and battery capacity are the 2 most vital feature in any successful fones that consumers want today, thinner is great but not at the expense of those basic features.
                                I just wish the OppoN5/Oneplus Open2 was release internationally as that would give them a kick up their A#$ for their complacency.

                                    It's human nature to accept certain knowledge without questioning it. For example, it's common practice to warm up your car in the winter for 5-10 minutes minimum. Truth is, modern cars only need 30 seconds.

                                    I just accidentally came across information that completely upends knowledge we've accepted. Turns out Si/C technology is not Chinese innovation at all. It's proprietary tech licensed from an American company. The material is sent to ATL or CATL to manufacturer the batteries for Honor, Oppo, Xiaomi, etc.

                                    I'm as dumbfounded about this as I was when HBO killed off Joel in the 2nd ep of TLOU.

                                      If Samsung beats the rest at Android OS battery optimization like they usually, IRL performance should be similar to all the Chinese ultraphones.

                                      Also, did no one yet do a study on how much faster the fast charging SuperVOOC batteries degrade?
