Is this going to be OnePlus 13 Ultra? In future?

TechFa, 8 hours agoHow is a chip with better GPU be worse at gaming? And what ... morePhone games are primarily limited by CPU and not GPU for the most part it seems, thus Qualcomm gets a huge advantage. Additionally Qualcomm's been used for a long time and is used in most phones/the most popular phones, as a result developers tend to optimise for Qualcomm chips.

Keep in mind, developers dont really optimise for android much at all so even on Qualcomm the experience is far worse than what the chip is capable of, so imagine how much work Mediatek has to do to get a comparable experience. I just hope that they focus on working with app developers for better app support instead of more power, I think their chips are sufficiently powerful now, wider compatibility will pay huge dividends. For example getting Gcam on these phones is quite difficult, if not impossible.

And im not saying a phone with a Dimensity chip cant be called an Ultra, it's just that the Pro has an 8 Elite and it is, for the most part, better than the Dimensity overall due to the CPU, most apps on phones are let down by CPU horsepower, not GPU horsepower. Qualcomm's ISP could also be better. Why else would Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo use the 8 Elite for their Ultras?

I'm just speculating at this point about stuff ofc but if you want to understand exactly what im talking about you can watch a few videos to enhance your knowledge. Geekerwan has done excellent tests on these chips

An earlier video which goes into detail and explains most of their procedure/what they're showing, in English :

        https://youtu.be/s0ukXDnWlTY?si=ogewAdC9V3vydTE-

Chinese Videos on the newer chips :

        8 Elite -

        https://youtu.be/GkJCWncZbJc?si=iUggNB3bJLhRTuNs

        Dimensity 9400 -

        https://youtu.be/3PFhlQH4A2M?si=PuIMuT_imxpqOoHY

That ought to clear up what i mean by Qualcomm being better in raw CPU power and stuff.

And this excellent video has a LOT of info but you can fairly easily understand it if you know anything about PC game performance through FPS and stuff :

        https://youtu.be/J7gC5OkguP8?si=tSjlQdB5AhOB7a2g

What I meant by "worse performance" in games by Mediatek chips isn't the average fps, their FPS is high enough, but there's more stutters, The 1% lows are lower than 8 Elite phones. Thus the game will be less smooth and more stuttery.

If you want a more in depth explanation, here's an awesome video from Gamers Nexus :

        https://youtu.be/uXepIWi4SgM?si=aGbXluuw9B5jXeE7

Am I reading the article wrong or did GSMarena js call the Ace 5 Pro, Oneplus 10 Pro?

Anyway, calling a phone Ultra but having its Soc be slightly behind the Pro version is odd (probably some....unique marketing tactic) but hey, more variety is better, and we're getting a 9400+ instead of 9400e, so I'll take it. Just hoping this doesn't inflate the price (probably will, and OP is gonna justify it as an 'Ultra' Price.

Both will likely have nearly identical specs. Xiaomi actually the English word 'ultra' for their real 'ultra' the Xiaomi 15 ultra but don't for the Redmi k80 supreme/extreme edition

Oneplus have the specs to be number one they gotta sort out that last 15% on the cameras and UI and they'll be there.

with a mediatek and an ip66 ip68 ip69k to balance it

im eager to try the top high end from mediatek and i

Same goes for the Redmi K series in China with its "ultra" model which is inferior to the pro. It's more like a speed edition with flagship Mediatek SoC and downgraded cameras but with a lower price than the pro model.

The OnePlus 10 pro does not use SD elite... That chip didn't even exist back then.

An Ultra that's somewhat behind a Pro? What even is this lmao

I mean yeah Mediatek's CPU speeds are super close to Qualcomm's and the GPU is better but app support is inferior, games play worse, tho the average person wont notice. I doubt this is for the average person tho. Strange decision to say the least. If it were named Ace 5 Plus or Ace 5T or something it'd make sense i think
